Volkswagen India has launched the much-awaited 2014 VW Polo facelift in the country. The vehicle gets smart tweaks to both exteriors and interiors; and is now equipped with an all-new diesel engine. However, the company has reserved the launch of the GT range for this festive season. Surely, the company is aiming to capitalize on the festive mood of Indian buyers. The 2014 Volkswagen Polo GT TSI is priced at Rs. 7.90 lakh, while the GT TDI version is tagged at Rs. 7.99 lakh.
Volkswagen will launch the Polo GT TSI and GT TDI in India in September, 2014. This hatchback also gets similar changes given to the standard Polo range. When it comes to styling, this model gets newly designed lights, alloy wheels and grille with GT badge. The interiors of the saloon features new seat upholstery and silver detailing on the centre console.
The Volkswagen Polo GT TSI will be powered by a 4-pot, 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of developing a top power output of 105PS at 5000rpm and a peak torque of 175Nm at 1500-4100rpm. Power is transmitted to front wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. This model is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 17.21kmpl, which is pretty impressive.
The diesel version, Polo GT TSI will be propelled by the 1.5-litre engine that also powers the standard Polo hatchback. This engine is tuned to offer two states of tune- 90PS and 105PS. Clearly, the performance version will be powered by the 105PS version, which will be paired to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox. It is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 19.91kmpl.
