Volkswagen Polo compact sedan rendered

We reported earlier that Volkswagen is working on an all-new compact sedan, which is scheduled to go on sale next year. The company has started testing the sub-4 metre compact sedan on Indian roads. It will be based on the VW polo hatchback, and will be positioned below the Vento sedan.

It is basically a Polo hatchback with an added boot, which is visible on the spy shots. This sub-4 metre compact sedan will share the wheelbase with the hatchback, which is 2456mm. The hatchbak will share styling with the hatch sibling. It is expected to get chrole grille, chrome surrounded fog lamps, smoked headlamps with silver detailing, alloy wheels, etc.

Like the exteriors, the compact sedan is also likely to share the interior styling with the Polo compact sedan. Dual-tone theme on the dashboard, silver finish on the centre console and new multi-functional steering wheel, and others will be sourced from the hatchback sibling.

The Polo-based compact sedan will be offered in both petrol and diesel guise. While the diesel engine will be the 1.5-litre turbocharged motor that is good for 89bhp, the petrol engine will be the 1.2-litre unit. Both manual and automatic version will be on offer.

Expected Price- Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 7.5 lakh

Expected Launch- early 2016

Competition- Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Zest and Ford Figo Aspire
