Volkswagen Nivus SUV Coupe To Be Unveiled On May 28

After revealing camouflaged pictures and new multimedia system, Volkswagen now has announced that the upcoming Nivus SUV Coupe will have world debut on May 28, 2020. This will be locally designed and developed in Brazil.

Despite COVID-19 Pandemic, Volkswagen plans to launch the Nivus Coupe SUV in the Brazilian market in June 2020. The company is also likely to introduce new financing scheme – Buy Now and Pay in 2021 scheme with this Coupe SUV. If media reports are to be believed, the VW Nivus will be offered in 3 versions – 200 TSI, 200 TSI Comfortline and 200 TSI Highline. There will be an optional R-Line package, which comes with sporty exterior and interior.

The high-end variants – the Comfortline and Highline versions will come equipped with 10.25 inch Active Info Display digital panel as standard. 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, and the stability and traction control with ramp start assistant will come as standard. The Coupe SUV will have new multimedia VW Play with 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and online shopping services as optional.

The Volkswagen Nivus Coupe SUV will be based on the VW Group’s MQB AO platform, which also underpins the new Polo, Virtus sedan and the T-Cross compact SUV. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine producing 128bhp and 200Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The new VW Nivus will share the 2.56 meters wheelbase with the Polo hatchback. It has an elongated rear overhang of 856mm and has a total length of 4.26 meters. It is 60mm longer than the Brazilian-spec T-Cross. Interestingly, the T-Cross rides on a longer wheelbase of 2.65m. It will have a boot space of 415-litres, which is larger than the T-Cross. In terms of proportions, the VW Nivus is 4,266mm in length, 1,493mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,566mm. The Nivus SUV Coupe will share styling cues from the Tayron X Coupe SUV, which is available in the Chinese market. In terms of styling, the new model gets curved roof, LED headlamps, LED tail-lamps and usable roof rails.
