Volkswagen Nivus Subcompact SUV Teaser Released

Volkswagen has released a teaser video of its upcoming Nivus subcompact SUV that will debut in Brazil next year. The video reveals its silhouette along with sweptback headlamps with integrated LED DRLs (daytime running lights), triangular fog lamps flanking a large lower intake, sloping roofline with roof rails, rear spoiler and wraparound LED taillights. Touted as ‘Urban Coupe’, the Volkswagen Nivus will be first launched in the Brazilian market and then in Europe. In the company’s global product lineup, it will sit below the VW T-Cross.  For the emerging markets, the Nivus will be designed on the VW Group’s MQB A0 platform that will also used in the new-generation VW Polo hatchback.

Though there is no official detail, the Volkswagen Nivus (Brazilian-spec) is likely to get a 1.0L TSI turbocharged petrol engine delivering power close to 126bhp. It can be had either with a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox.

In India, Volkswagen will bring in a range of SUVs that might debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. The lineup might include Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace, Volkswagen T-Cross and Volkswagen T-Roc. The VW T-Cross is likely to come with a 1.5L, 4-cylinder EVO TSI and a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbocharged unit.
