Volkswagen has confirmed that the much-awaited Nivus will be launched at a planned schedule in Brazil. The company has released new images and information about the upcoming Volkswagen Nivus compact SUV Coupe. The new model is most likely to be unveiled in June, 2020.

Jose Loureiro, head of engineering at Volkswagen said that the VW Nivus shows the versatility of the modular MQB platform. It is actually based on the MQB AO platform, which also underpins the new-gen Polo in global markets. Sharing the 2.56 meters wheelbase with the Polo, the new Nivus has an elongated rear overhang of 856mm and has a total length of 4.26 meters. In fact, it is 6cm (60mm) longer than the Brazilian-spec T-Cross. Interestingly, the T-Cross rides on a longer wheelbase of 2.65m.Also See – Volkswagen Taigun Price, Specs and Launch Details

In normal conditions, the Nivus offers 42-litres more boot than the T-Cross. In terms of proportions, the VW Nivus is 4,266mm in length, 1,493mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,566mm. The global new-gen Polo measures 4,057mm in length, 1,468mm in height, and has a same wheelbase of 2,566 as the Nivus. However, it offers the boot space of 300-litres. The Nivus will be powered by the 1.0-litre TSI 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of producing 128bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It comes with all-4 disc brakes.

The VW Nivus compact SUV Coupe shares styling cues from the Tayron X Coupe SUV recently unveiled in the Chinese market. It gets curved roof, LED headlamps, LED tail-lamps and usable roof rails. It is equipped with new 8-inch “multimedia center”, which is called Volkswagen Play. It also gets 10-inch Active Info Display digital panel.
