Volkswagen Nivus Coupe SUV Final Teaser Out Before Unveil

Based on MQB AO platform, the new VW Nivus Coupe SUV will go on sale by the end of June 2020.

The long-awaited Volkswagen Nivus Coupe SUV will make its global debut today. The new Coupe SUV will make digital debut, which will target multiple markets including Europe and Brazil. The upcoming VW Nivus will go on sale in the Brazilian market by the end of June 2020. Volkswagen has released a final teaser of the new Coupe ahead of its official presentation later today.

The VW Nivus will be the brand’s second compact SUV and will be sold alongside the T-Cross. However, it will target younger and urban audience with its coupe-inspired design. The new sketch reveals the design of the fog lights and bumper, which were covered in previous camouflaged teasers.

The VW Nivus is designed and developed in Brazil. It is based on the VW Group’s MQB AO platform, which will also underpins the T-Cross, new Polo and the Virtus sedan sold abroad. The coupe SUV shares the 2.56 meters wheelbase with the new-gen Polo. It comes with an elongated rear overhang of 856mm and has a total length of 4.26 meters. It is 60mm longer than the Brazilian-spec T-Cross, which also has a longer wheelbase of 2.65m.

In terms of proportions, the VW Nivus is 4,266mm in length, 1,493mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,566mm. It is claimed to have an impressive boot space of 415-litres, while the T-Cross has 373-litres of boot. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 128bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The Coupe SUV will come with 4-wheel disc brakes and dynamic adjustment system for suspension, steering and stability control.

The new Volkswagen Nivus will also mark the debut of brand’s new multimedia center VW Play, with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This infotainment system is completely developed in Brazil and is also expected to be offered in the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun in India. It will also feature adaptive cruise control. The Coupe SUV also gets 10-inch Active Info Display digital panel. It features curved roof, LED headlamps, LED tail-lamps and usable roof rails.
