Volkswagen Nivus Compact SUV Could Look Like This
We reported earlier that Volkswagen is readying an all-new compact SUV, called the Nivus. The new compact SUV will carry the coupe SUV profile and will make Brazilian-debut in May 2020. Here is a new rendering, which shows the possible design of the upcoming VW Nivus.
Designed in Brazil, the coupe SUV will be produced in Europe in 2021, The SUV will also be exported to select international markets. In the global markets, the new Coupe SUV will be positioned below the T-Cross. It will be based on the new MQB AO platform, which also underpins the Polo, the T-Cross and the Virtus mid-sized sedan.
It is expected to have a similar wheelbase as the Polo (2,565mm). The SUV coupe will have larger trunk than the hatchback sibling. In the global markets, the compact SUVs will directly rival the Nissan Kicks and the Ford EcoSport. Inside the cabin, the Nivus compact SUV will have the new multimedia center. The software and hardware for the SUV will be developed by Volkswagen engineers in Brazil.
The VW Nivus will share most of the components with the Polo hatchback including the all-digital dashboard, full-LED headlamps as optional. It is likely to receive a 1.0-litre MPi/TSI petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual or DSG automatic. The Coupe SUV is also expected to arrive in our market. For India, the SUV will use the locally developed MQB AO IN platform. It will take on the likes of the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Ford EcoSport.
