Volkswagen Nivus Based Sedan: What It Could Look Like

Volkswagen Nivus based mid-sized coupe sedan digitally imagined by digital artist Kleber Silva.

Volkswagen has recently unveiled the new Nivus crossover with Coupe design. The Crossover Coupe will be launched in the Brazilian markets in the next couple of months, while the European launch will take place in early next year. A new digital rendering shows the possible design of Nivus Crossover Coupe based sedan.

The Volkswagen Nivus is designed and developed on the MQB AO platform, which also underpins the VW T-Cross, new-gen Polo and the Virtus mid-sized sedan. In fact, VW will also launch the Taigun mid-sized SUV based on the localised version of the MQB AO platform in India in 2021.

The Nivus sedan rendering also shares some of the design highlights from the Virtus mid-sized sedan. The image reveals a more sloping roofline for a sedan. It looks more like a coupe sedan, which could target the young buyers. The front seems heavily inspired by the Nivus with new grille, sculpted bonnet, LED DRLs and wider air-dams. The alloy wheel design is similar to that of the Virtus sedan. In fact, the wheel arches and belt-line and lower part of the side profile seems identical to the Virtus. The rear design has also been altered with more in-line with the Nivus Coupe SUV. It features a newly styled tail-lamps with LED inserts, boot integrated spoiler, raked windscreen and aggressive creases and curves.

Volkswagen Nivus 2020 Features

The Volkswagen Nivus crossover coupe is powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 128bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The Brazilian-spec model gets safety features like six airbags, ESC, traction control, automatic emergency braking, reverse camera and sensors, etc. The crossover Coupe features a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, called the VW Play multimedia center.
