Volkswagen believes that Jetta brand has enough products that can be launched in India, and this would help the company save cost as well. In order to keep its domestic operations up and running, VW Group would need volumes and producing low-cost Jetta cars could be one of the preferred ways.

Volkswagen Goup is investing 7,900 crore under its India 2.0 plan to revive its sales. The company will soon introduce the Taigun SUV in the country in the first half of 2021. It will be based on the heavily-localised MQB AO IN platform, which will be used to develop multiple products in the utility vehicle and hatchback segments. In fact, Skoda’s upcoming Vision IN based SUV and the next-gen Rapid will also be based on this platform.
