In a bid to improve its market share, Volkswagen is planning to launch a series of new cars and facelifts in the country. The company will launch the facelifted Polo in July and Vento facelift by festive season. Moreover, the company is also contemplating to introduce a compact sedan and SUV, new generation Passat and Tiguan Crossover for the market.
If media reports to believe, the sub-4 metre sedan will be based on the Polo platform and is likely to hit the market by 2016-17. This model is reportedly codenamed as ‘Polo Stuffe’. Speaking to ET, Mahesh Kodumani, Managing Director VW India, said that the decision on the Polo Stuffe will be made soon.
Moreover, the company will also launch the sub-4 metre SUV. Volkswagen will introduce the production version of the Taigun SUV, which was unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show. However, media reports suggest that VW might also consider the T-Roc based SUV for the Indian market.
The Volkswagen Polo facelift made its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle gets subtle changes to both exterior and interior. Adding to it, this vehicle will get the new 1.5-litre diesel engine which will also power the refreshed Vento. This engine is said to return two power states- 80bhp and 104bhp. The engine will be paired to an automatic transmission gearbox as well.
