Volkswagen India has introduced a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder MPI petrol engine on its Ameo sedan lineup. Called the Volkswagen Ameo Pace, the new 1.0L model has been priced at Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The company is also offering an exchange and loyalty benefits of up to Rs 20,000.
The new 999cc engine comes as a replacement to the 1.2-litre motor that was good for 75bhp. The Ameo Pace is slightly more powerful and fuel efficient as compared to the earlier 1.2L petrol model. With a displacement of 999cc, the 1.0L delivers a maximum power output of 76bhp at 6,200rpm and 95Nm of torque between 3,000rpm – 4,300rpm. Read – Upcoming Volkswagen Cars in India
For the record, Volkswagen claims that the new engine meets BSVI emission norms. While the old gasoline unit delivers a mileage of 17.0kmpl, the new smaller unit delivers 18.78kmpl. The new more powerful and fuel efficient petrol engine comes paired to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Similar to the VW Polo Pace, the Volkswagen Ameo Pace is available on the mid-level Comfortline trim. In terms of design and features, the car remains unchanged. Some of its key features include black outside mirrors, alloy wheels, a faux carbon-fibre spoiler and cruise control.
The Ameo sedan also comes with 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine that develops a top power of 108.62bhp at 4,000rpm and 250Nm of torque at 1,500rpm-3,000rpm. Its mileage figure stands at 22.0kmpl. The diesel version of the sedan can be brought either with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.
Currently, the VW Ameo sedan comes in four trims – Trendline, Comfortline, Highline and Highline Plus. Prices of the petrol models range between Rs 5.50 lakh to Rs 7.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
