The Range Rover Velar is the most aerodynamically-efficient Land Rover ever produced.

The British luxury SUV manufacturer, Land Rover is all set to introduce its most advanced member of the Range Rover family – Velar – in India. While the launch of the SUV is scheduled for September 21, 2017, the new Range Rover SUV has been spotted for the first time on Indian soil. Land Rover India has already listed the Velar on its official website and bookings have been commenced across the nation.

While the launch is a few weeks away, the prices and details of the SUV have already been leaked on the web. As per the leaked information, the Velar carline will spread across three trim levels – S, SE and HSE – packed with a 3.0L diesel, a 2.0L Ingenium diesel and a 2.0L petrol engines. Transmission choice will include a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic gearbox. The AWD (all-wheel-drive) system will be standard across the model lineup. The Velar underpins the IQ all-aluminium platform, which is already used in the Jaguar F-Pace. Claimed to be the most aerodynamically designed Land Rover ever, the Velar features Matrix-Laser LED headlights with LED DRLs, vented bumper, signature grille at the front fascia. Interior is feature laden with a new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with two 10-inch configurable touchscreens, instrument cluster with a 12.5-inch full digital instrument cluster, 23-speaker, 1,600W Meridian Signature Sound audio system, premium seat upholstery and 20-way power adjustable seats with heating and cooling feature.

Coming to the prices, the new Range Rover SUV will be priced as low as Rs 79 lakh for the entry-level S petrol trim and Rs 1.18 crore for the high-spec HSE diesel variant. Once launched, the Velar will go head-to-head against Porsche Macan and Jaguar F-Pace. The German trios will also be posed against this new SUV with Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5.
