After launching the Yamaha new-generation R15 V3.0 and updated R3, Yamaha Motor Company is planning to bring in a range of new bikes and scooters in India. Not just all-new bikes, Yamaha will introduce the new generation models of the existing vehicles. Moreover, Yamaha will enter into new segments to further strengthen its market share. Here we bring you a list of upcoming Yamaha Bikes in the Indian market in 2018, 2019.

1. Yamaha MT-03

First previewed at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the Yamaha MT-03 is essentially the naked version of the YZF-R3 motorcycle. Besides sharing its styling bits and features with its bigger sibling, the MT-03 also makes use of the same 321cc, 4-stroke parallel-twin, liquid-cooled DOHC engine. This motor pushes out a maximum power output of 40bhp at 10,750rpm and 29Nm of torque at 9,000rpm. Channelling power to the rear wheels of the bike is a 6-speed manual transmission.

The naked streetfighter rides on 10-spoke, 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 110/10-17 front and 140/70-17 rear tubeless tyres. Braking mechanism of the bike includes 298m front and 220mm rear hydraulic single disc brakes, combined with dual-channel anti-lock braking rear system. In India, the Yamaha MT-03 will be brought via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route from the company’s Indonesian facility, and then assembled locally. One among the much-awaited upcoming Yamaha bikes in India, the MT-03 will be positioned against the Kawasaki Z250, KTM Duke 390 and the upcoming BMW G310R.

2. New Yamaha 100cc Bike

According to online reports, the Japanese bikemaker is planning to launch a new 100cc motorcycle in the country. Though, the name and details of the bike are yet to be revealed. It will be most affordable upcoming Yamaha bikes in India. In the company’s product lineup, the new Yamaha 100cc bike will be positioned below the Saluto RX100. The new bike is expected to be based on a low-cost platform, and feature a round headlamp. Other key highlights might include a twin dial instrument cluster, a speedometer, a fuel guage with tell tale lamps, long and broad seat, etc.

The new Yamaha commuter is likely to derive its power from an 110cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that also does duty in the Saluto RX100. This motor can generate a top power of 7.3bhp at 7,000rpm along with a peak torque of 8.5Nm at 4,500rpm. Transmission on offer will be a 4-speed gearbox, driving power to the rear wheels via chain drive. Mileage figure of the bike is estimated to stand at 80kmpl.

3. New Yamaha MT-15

Buoyed by excellent response for R15 V3.0, Yamaha is now planning to launch the all-new Yamaha MT 15 sport-naked motorcycle in India. The vehicle recently debuted in Thailand and will go on sale in other international markets as well. The motorcycle’s design is inspired from the bigger Yamaha MT-09, though the platform is being shared with the R15. It is powered by a 155.1cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke engine, which is boosted with Yamaha’s VVA and SOHC technology. This engine churns out 19.04bhp of power and 14.7Nm of torque. 4. Yamaha R15 V3.0 ABS

The new-gen Yamaha R15 V3, launched at the 2018 Auto Expo, has been an instant hit. The new model will receive ABS version in 2019, which is expected to increase its prices. The bike is expected to receive new body graphics, though mechanics will remain the same. It is propelled by a 155.1cc, single-cylinder engine producing 19.04bhp and 14.7Nm of torque.

5. Yamaha Aerox 155 or NMax 155

The next in our list of upcoming Yamaha scooters is the Aerox 155. This unisex scooter seems inspired by MT series motorcycles, and looks sporty and aggressive. Some of its styling bits include dual LED headlamps, a 5.8-inch LCD display on digital instrument cluster, LED taillight and brake lights, single unit seat and sporty-integrated tandem grip. The scooter comes fitted with 110/80-14 C53P front and 140/70-14 C62P tubeless tyres.

The new Yamaha 155cc scooter sits on underbone frame, and makes use of telescopic front and swing rear suspension unit. The front hydraulic single disc and mechanical drum rear brakes with ABS ensure a safe ride. At the heart of the scooter is a 155cc, single-cylinder SOHC motor pushing out 14.8bhp at 8,000rpm and 14.4Nm at 6,000rpm. This powertrain is paired to a V-belt automatic transmission.

6. Yamaha FZ 25 & Fazer 25 ABS

Yamaha’s 2 new affordable 250cc motorcycles – FZ 25 and Fazer 25 – will receive ABS versions in 2019. Both these motorcycles won’t receive many changes, though Yamaha could add new body graphics and features. Mechanically, the bikes won’t receive any changes and will continue to feature the 250cc, single-cylinder petrol engine.

7. New-gen Yamaha FZ15

What’s more interesting is that Yamaha has started working on the next-generation Yamaha FZ15 motorcycle, which has been spotted testing on Indian roads. The next bike is expected to arrive in 2019 and will be equipped with more powerful & efficient petrol engine. The motorcycle will get LED headlights, new muscular fuel tank and aggressive styling. It is powered by a 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This fuel injected motor is capable of producing 13bhp of power at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 12.8Nm at 6,000 rpm.
