After launching the Yamaha FZ 25 naked streetfighter and Fazer 25 tourer, Yamaha Motor Company is planning to launch a range of new bikes and scooters in the country. Besides launching facelifts of existing models, Japanese automaker will introduce the new generation models of the existing vehicles. Yamaha is also aiming at new segments to further improve its sales in the market. Here we bring you a list of upcoming Yamaha Bikes in the Indian market in 2018, 2019.
Launched in 2015, the Yamaha R3 fully-faired motorcycle has failed to generate volumes for the maker. Now, the Japanese automaker is planning to introduce the updated YZF-R3 in the country within 18 months. This will be the most powerful bike among all upcoming Yamaha bikes in the country in the next 2 years. The new model is already on sale in select international markets including America. It will get sharper and sportier design. Adding to it, the motorcycle will also get LED headlamps and LED taillamps. The new model is also expected to get ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) as standard, which was missing in the previous bike.
The new Yamaha R3 will be powered by the Euro IV compliant engine. It will be propelled by the same 321cc, in-line, 4-stroke, twin-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum power output of 41.4bhp and a peak torque of 29.6Nm. This engine will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox that drives the power to the rear wheels via a chain drive. The current bike accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 6 seconds before hitting an electronic speed limit of 187kmph.

Launched in 2008, the Yamaha R15 has been one of the most successful bike for the Japanese bike maker in India. The company is now planning to launch the new R15 V3.0, which is undoubtedly one of the most awaited upcoming Yamaha Bikes in India. The new gen model has already been launched in Indonesia and testing of this bike has already been commenced in India. This new generation fully-faired bike gets comprehensive changes including aesthetic updates with sportier look and all-new mechanics. Talking about changes, the bike has LED units on the twin headlamp cluster, sharper fairing, upside-down fairing, re-designed fuel tank with extensions, raised saddle height and high-set position. However, India-spec model will miss out on several high-end features like upside down forks, slipper clutch and others.
The new R15 V3 gets a more powerful new 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel injected engine with SOHC technology. This engine is capable of producing 19.3bhp of power and 14.7Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheels via a six-speed gearbox. With prominent changes on the engine, it is expected to return higher fuel economy. As a reminder, the current bike is powered by a 149cc, single-cylinder engine that churns out 16.7bhp of power and 15Nm of torque.

Yamaha had showcased the MT-03 naked streetfighter at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The bike is basically the naked version of the Yamaha R3 motorcycle, which was launched in 2015. If reports are to be believed, this motorcycle could share centre stage with other upcoming Yamaha bikes at Auto Expo 2018. It will be brought to India via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route from the company’s Indonesian facility, and then assembled locally. The bike will rival the Kawasaki Z250, KTM Duke 390 and the upcoming BMW G310R.
The Yamaha MT-03 is powered by a 321cc, 4-stroke parallel-twin liquid-cooled DOHC engine that also powers the R3. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 41.6bhp at 10,750rpm and a peak torque of 30Nm at 9,000rpm. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. The bike features 10-spoke, 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 110/10-17 front and 140/70-17 rear tubeless tyres. For the braking mechanism, the bike gets 298m front and 220mm rear hydraulic single disc brakes, combined with dual-channel anti-lock braking rear system.

If media reports are to be believed, Yamaha is working on an affordable 100cc bike for the Indian market. It will be the most affordable motorcycle in our list of upcoming Yamaha bikes in India in 2017, 2018. To be slotted below the Saluto RX 100, the bike is expected to be developed on the light-weight Saluto platform.

The new commuter is likely to be powered by a 110cc single-cylinder engine that also powers the Saluto. This engine is capable of producing 7.3bhp of power at 7,000rpm along with a peak torque of 8.5Nm at 4,500rpm. Powertrain will be coupled to a 4-speed gearbox that drives the power to the rear wheels via chain drive.

The Japanese automaker had showcased the Yamaha NMax maxi scooter at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The company is yet to make an official announcement whether this scooter will be launched in India or not. The scooter showcased at the Auto Show was equipped with a 125cc single-cylinder engine that is equipped with the company’s Blue Core technology. This engine features 4valve head and variable valve actuation. It is capable of producing 15.5PS of power and 14.4Nm of torque. We expect the company will launch the 155cc version of this scooter, which is already on sale in select international markets.
The scooter features 13-inch wheels shod with big 110/70 and 130/70 tubeless tyres at front and rear respectively. Dual disc brakes will be offered as standard while an ABS system could come as optional.

Set to rival Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter, the Nozza Grande is undoubtedly one of the most awaited upcoming Yamaha scooters in India. This fashionable city scooter gets elegant European styling.
In international market, the scooter gets a 125cc, single cylinder, 2-valve, SOHC engine that produces 8.2PS and 9.7Nm of torque. The India-spec model could get the existing 113cc engine that produces 7.1PS of power and 8.1Nm of torque.

Japanese automaker, Yamaha could also launch the Spark 135 step-thru scooter in the country. Also known as the T135, this scooter is currently on sale in select ASEAN markets including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, etc. It is based on a diamond type frame, while the suspension mechanism comprises of telescopic fork at the front and the monocross unit at the rear. For braking duties, the bike gets single disc at the front and drum brake at the rear.
Powering the Yamaha Spark 135 is a 134.4cc SOHC engine with liquid-cooling. This engine is good for 11.4PS and 11.65Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a rotary type 4-speed gearbox with centrifugal cutch.
