TVS Motor Company had begun the year on a positive note by revealing its new lineup at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The new TVS models/concepts that made their debut were the Akula, X21 concept, TVS-BMW G 310R and EntorQ 210 scooter. The bikemaker also showcased the Apache RTR 200 and new Victor at the event. While the TVS-BMW G310R will be the first product to launch this year, other bikes will arrive by the next year.

Developed jointly by TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad, the TVS-BMW G310R sportsbike will hit showrooms in October 2016. This will be BMW’s first 300cc and most affordable motorcycle in the country. Power for the G310R comes from a new 313cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder water-cooled engine that is inclined towards the rear. The powertrain, with a 6-speed gearbox, delivers power worth 34bh at 9,500rpm and 28Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. The TVS-BMW G310R will return fuel efficiency of around 36kmpl, and 145kmph of top speed.
Talking about the design, this beemer shares resemblance with the BMW Concept Stunt G310 that made its debut at 2015 Salao Duas Rodas, Brazil. The bike looks quite aggressive and sporty with stunt riding features such as axle pegs on the front axle, large rear wheel brake, ‘stunt tail’, lockable throttle grip and additional brake lever. For dumping duties, the bike gets telescopic fork upfront and monoshock rear suspension system. With such versatile attributes, the TVS-BMW G310R is among the highly-anticipated upcoming new TVS bikes in India.

Out of all upcoming new TVS bikes in India, the TVS Apache RTR 300 is the one that has already created much buzz among young enthusiasts. Unveiled as the Akula concept at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the bike is likely to be launched by the end of this year or early next year. Based on a highly stiff space frame chassis, the new Apache RTR 300 has an aluminum sub-frame and lots of lightweight carbon fibre components. Its shark-inspired aerodynamic design not only looks stunning, but enhances its handling and drivability as well.
Design highlights include fin-shaped single seat, pronounced fuel tank, large windscreen and front cowl, a full digital speedometer, etc. Powering the Apache RTR 300 is the same 313cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder water-cooled engine that does duty in the TVS-BMW G310R. Paired to a 5, this power-unit churns out 34bhp of power and 28Nm of torque.

Unveiled at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the TVS X21 concept represents the racing and technological competency of the bikemaker. One must note that the company hasn’t yet revealed its India launch plan. This racing concept is based on lightweight chassis, and claimed to be high on performance. It carries several special race components such as steering damper, race levers and a performance kit.
The bike also comes equipped with an instrument console with a digital speedometer, lap timing, a digital tachometer, a trip meter, clock, etc. The TVS X21 concept is powered by a 212.4cc, 4-valve, single-cylinder engine that is s tuned for achieving higher revs and power. This power motor has fuel injection system along with twin oil coolers, straight flow air filters and free flow canisters. All these racing attributes make the X21 one of the most-awaited upcoming new TVS bikes in India.
The TVS EntorQ 210 racing scooter first broke cover at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016. This racing concept signifies TVS’s futuristic design and technology that will be used for its new breed scooters. Rumors suggest that the production version of the scooter will be a 125cc model. Powering the vehicle is an all-aluminum 125cc, liquid-cooled engine with fuel injected technology and an advanced variomatic gearbox. The scooter has an electronic speed limit of 120kmph.
The production-ready version of the EntorQ 210 is likely to borrow most of its design elements and features from the concept. It might come with first-in-segment intelligent smartphone integration with GPS navigation system and a smart TFT multi-function console. Other styling features might include LED lighting system, large wheels with radial tubeless tyres, Roto petal dual disc brakes and ABS.

India’s first hybrid scooter, the TVS IQube is likely to be launched either by end of this year or early next year. As a reminder, the iQube was first unveiled as a concept at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. Since it’s a hybrid vehicle, iQube will be benefited by the government’s FAME India (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles in India) scheme. This scooter will derive its power from a 100cc, 4-stroke petrol engine paired to an electric motor with a lithium ion batteries pack.
Power will be delivered to wheels via a 4-speed transmission. It will come with two driving modes – Hybrid Power and Hybrid Economy. Similar to its concept, the production version of the scooter might feature LED headlight, a single seat, an analogue speedometer and fuel gauge, electric start system, LED display and pass light.
