After introducing the new Meteor and the Classic 350, Royal Enfield is now preparing a wide range of new motorcycles for the Indian market. The company plans a new entry-level 350cc Classic motorcycle, which is rumoured to be called the Hunter 350. The new motorcycle will be lighter than the other 350cc siblings, and will be positioned against the Honda CB350RS. It will be based on the ‘J’ platform that underpins the Meteor 350 and the Classic 350. It is likely to be powered by the same 349cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 20.2bhp and 27Nm of torque, and paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

Royal Enfield is also working on a new scrambler version of the Himalayan, which is likely to be called the RE Scram 411. It will be more affordable than the adventure sibling and is likely to be launched in early 2022. The company will make some changes to the Himalayan to give it a more road-oriented Scrambler feel. It is likely to retain the same 411cc, single-cylinder engine that powers the Himalayan. This engine produces 24.3bhp and 32Nm of torque, and is paired to a 5-speed gearbox.

Royal Enfield is also preparing two new 650cc motorcycles – the Super Meteor and the Shotgun 650. The Super Meteor 650 will sit above the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. It shares styling cues from the KX Concept. Design highlights will include a circular headlamp, a large visor for wind protection, 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, forward set foot pegs, a fatter rear fender, round tail-lights and turn indicators, and twin-pipe exhaust system.

The RE Shotgun 650 will be the production-ready version of the RE SG650 concept, which was unveiled at the 2021 EICMA motor show in Italy. The motorcycle will retain most of the design highlights from the concept. It will have round headlamp with integrated position lamps, a single-seat unit, USD front forks, teardrop-like fuel tank, and others. Both bikes will be powered by a 648cc parallel-twin engine that powers the Interceptor and the Continental GT. This engine produces 47bhp and 52Nm of torque. The bikes will get a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper and assist clutch. ‘

Upcoming Yezdi & Jawa Bikes

Classic Legends, backed by Mahindra, is all set to re-introduce the iconic Yezdi brand with two new motorcycles. The company is testing an adventure motorcycle and an all-new Scrambler. The Scrambler is reportedly to be called the Yezdi Roadking. The Adventure bike design inspiration comes from its biggest rival – the RE Himalayan. It gets a traditional round headlamp, a tall windscreen, a bulbous fuel tank, round-shaped rear-view mirrors, and split seat setup. It is expected to be powered by a 334cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that powers the Jawa Perak. This engine churns out 30.64PS of power and 32.74Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

This model has retro design elements like old-school exhausts, a circular LED tail-light, a raised front fender and a new headlight housing along with an integrated tyre hugger that accommodates the number plate. It is expected to be powered by a 293cc single-cylinder engine that produces 27.3PS of power and 27.02Nm of torque.

Jawa has started testing a new cruiser motorcycle, which will rival the Meteor 350. The new cruiser will have retro-styling with features like round headlamp and rear-view mirrors, tear-drop shaped fuel tank and broader rear fender. The motorcycle will offer wider and comfortable seat. The new Jawa Cruiser is expected to be based on the Perak’s platform, which could be modified to accommodate a cruiser-type bike. The new motorcycle is likely to share the engine with the Perak, which is a 334cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC unit. This engine churns out 30.64PS of power and 32.74Nm of torque.
