Upcoming Renault Duster EV Spotted For The First Time

French automaker, Renault is readying a range of electric cars for global markets. The company has officially announced to introduce an electric car in India in 2020. It is expected that the Kwid based electric vehicle will be the brand’s first EV in India. What’s interesting is that the company is also readying the electric version of the Duster SUV. An all-electric SUV from Renault’s affordable brand, Dacia has been spotted wearing the body of a first-gen Duster SUV.

Going by the spy images, it is visible that the EV platform with a flat package of batteries is mounted under the seats. The Dacia Duster EV was shot from a frozen lake close to the Arctic Circle. The spotted model has wider and longer body compared to a standard first-gen Duster. Adding to it, the spotted Duster EV was fitted with rolling cage, racing seats and studded tires. On a closer look, it is visible that the spotted model was fitted with larger Brembo-branded brakes. The rear wheels have alpine-branded calipers. It is reported that Dacia is testing the all-new electric car to participate into the all-electric class of the Andros Trophy. It is expected that Dacia will launch the first production electric vehicle sometime at the beginning of the next decade. This race car will help Dacia engineers to gather information for the future electric vehicle. It is expected that Dacia could soon start testing the EV on public roads.
