4. New Tata Safari Storme 2018
Tata, the homegrown automaker is working on the next generation Safari Storme SUV, which will be based on an all-new Utility Vehicle Architecture. The same platform will also be used to develop future UVs of Tata Motors’. It is expected that the early prototype of the SUV could be showcased at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The company will take around 2-3 years to design and develop this SUV.
Like the Hexa, the new Safari will be designed at the company’s design studios in UK, Italy and Pune. In fact, Land Rover will also help in the development of this SUV. It is expected that the next-generation model will get an all-new diesel engine. The company could use the new 2.0-litre MJD diesel engine, which will also power the upcoming Jeep Compass SUV. This engine is likely to produce around 150bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a six-speed automatic unit. It will be slotted between the Hexa and the upcoming Nexon SUV, and will rival the Mahindra Scorpio and the Renault Duster. Most of the features are likely to be sourced from the Hexa SUV.
