Upcoming Tata Cars in India – Here’s a complete list of all the new cars that the home-grown carmaker will launch in 2016 and 2017
Tata Motors has been striving hard to keep up with changing Indian automobile market dynamics for quite a long time. The company lost its ground to other brands for solely focusing on functionality and leaving aesthetics aside. In order to regain its market share, the company launched several all new products in the last 2 years with the latest one being the Tata Tiago.
Launched at an aggressive price range, the Tata Tiago is already the company’s top-selling product and has given the company much needed boost. The homegrown carmaker plans to add more vehicles in its portfolio, thus offering buyers several options to choose from across different price ranges and categories.
Here’s a list of all the upcoming Tata cars in India that are expected to be rolled out in the next two-three years.
The Tata Kite 5 sub-compact sedan is certainly one of the much-awaited upcoming Tata cars in India. The Kite 5 sedan will be slotted below the Zest, and go up against the Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo, Ford Aspire and other cars in its league. It has been designed by Tata’s European Technical Centre (TMETC) team. Based on the updated XO platform, the new Tata compact sedan will share its engine and design features with the Tiago hatchback. The Kite 5 will come as a replacement to the Indigo eCS, but it will be more robust and premium.
The sedan might also share its interior design and equipment with the Tiago. It will be quite spacious from inside, and offer a best-in-class boot space of 420-litre. Power source for the Kite 5 will be the same – 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and 1.05-litre turbocharged diesel – that do duty in the Tiago hatchback. While the petrol mill produces power worth 83.8bhp against 114Nm of torque, the diesel mill offers 69.04bhp with 140Nm of torque. There will be a choice between a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox.
