Upcoming New Royal Enfield 350cc, 650cc Bikes In India

Buoyed by excellent respone for the new Meteor 350, Royal Enfield is now working on expanding its 350cc and 650cc motorcycle range. The company is developing multiple new motorcycles for the Indian market, and here’s the list –

New-gen RE Classic 350

The company is testing the new generation Classic 350, which is expected to be launched before Diwali 2021. New-gen Royal Enfield 350 will be based on the new twin downtube spine frame, which also underpins the Meteor 350 cruiser. Called the J1D architecture, the new platform will be used to develop new breed of Royal Enfield 350cc motorcycles.

The new-gen RE Classic 350 will retain the original classic look, but it will have some design changes. It will get new handlebar grip, switchgears,  repositioned grab rails, new turn indicators and sleeker circular LED tail-lamps. It will get a new digital-analogue instrument console along with the Royal Enfield Tripper Navigation System. The new RE Classic 350 will be powered by a 349cc, fuel injected engine that is capable of producing a maximum power output of 20.2bhp at 6,100rpm and a peak torque of 27Nm at 4,000rpm. It will be paired to a 5-speed gearbox.

Royal Enfield is also testing a modern classic-styled version of the 650cc cruiser, which is likely to be called called the Royal Enfield Classic 650. The motorcycle will be based on the double-craddle frame, which also underpins the Interceptor and the Continental GT 650. The frame will be modified extensively to accommodate a classic motorcycle. The spotted model comes equipped with a twin-shock absorber at the rear, a larger front wheel than the rear, and flat tubeless tyres. The bike will get dual discs along with dual-channel ABS as standard.

The motorcycle will get a low seat and a forward-set footpeg positioning, and a wide handlebar. It will feature a twin-pod instrument console with RE’s Tripper Navigation System. It will be powered by a 648cc parallel twin air-cooled engine with oil cooler that also powers the 650 twins. This engine is capable of producing 47.6PS and 52Nm of torque. It is expected to be paired to a 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch.

Royal Enfield is also testing a new 650cc cruiser bike, which is expected to be called the Royal Enfield Shotgun. It will come with modern styling and relatively sportier stance with mid-set footpegs. The spotted model reveals that the cruiser will have round headlamps along with large visor for wind protection, slender fuel tank and alloy wheels. It will have split seats, a twin-pipe exhaust system, rounded tail-lamps and turn indicators, and fatter rear fender. It will have forward-set foot pegs and a wider handlebar.

The upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser is expected to be powered by a 649cc twin-cylinder engine, which also powers the Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor 650. This engine is capable of producing 47PS of maximum power and 52Nm of peak torque. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox.

Royal Enfield is also working on a modern classic with sportier design, which will be positioned against the Honda CB350 RS. Rumoured to be called the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, the new motorcycle will be based on the new J modular platform that underpins the RE Meteor 350. This is a double-craddle frame, which will also underpin a wide range of new RE bikes including the new-gen Classic 350.

The motorcycle will have different design compared to the Meteor 350. The spotted model has a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, single-piece seat with a pillion backrest, a round tail-lamps, shorter fenders, round headlamp with chrome bezel, engine sump guard, an upswept exhaust, and disc brakes. The buttons, handlebar grips, twin-pod instrument console with tripper navigation and dual-channel ABS system will be shared with the Meteor 350. The new motorcycle will be powered by the same 349cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine with an OHC design. This single-cylinder engine churns out 20.2bhp of power at 6,100rpm and a peak torque of 27Nm at 4,000rpm. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox.
