Upcoming New Maruti Suzuki Cars & SUVs To Launch In 2022, 2023

After launching the new Baleno and the Ertiga facelift, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch a wide range of new SUVs and updated versions of existing models. Here’s is a list of upcoming new Maruti Suzuki Cars and SUVs to be launched in the country in 2022 and 2023 –

1. Maruti XL6 Facelift

Maruti Suzuki will launch the facelift version of the XL6 Crossover-MPV on April 21, 2022. The new model will come with cosmetic design changes and upgraded interior along with a new engine option. The new MPV will come with a new touchscreen infotainment system, 6AT with paddle shifters, a 360 degree camera, Suzuki Connect connected car tech with over 40 features, etc.

The new Maruti XL6 will be powered by a new 1.5L 4-cylinder K15C Dualjet petrol engine that powers the Ertiga. This engine produces 103bhp at 6,000rpm and 136.8Nm at 4,400rpm. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

2. Maruti Baleno CNG

Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the new Baleno hatchback with a wide range of new features and improved cabin. The hatchback will soon receive a factory-fitted CNG option. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine with marginal drop in power and torque output. The CNG variant is expected to return an efficiency of 25km/kg. The CNG kit will be offered on multiple variants to target wider set of buyers.

3. 2022 Maruti S-Presso & Ignis

Maruti Suzuki will soon introduce the new Dualjet petrol engine to the S-Presso and the Ignis hatchbacks. It is the same powertrain that powers the Celerio, Swift, WagonR, Baleno and Dzire. The small cars will get the 1.2L dualjet K12C unit comes with idle start-stop tech. This engine will power the Ignis. On the other hand, the S-Presso will get the 1.0L Dualjet petrol engine that produces 67bhp.

4. New Maruti Brezza

Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Brezza mid-sized SUV in May or June 2022. The new model will come with design changes and a completely revised interior with high-end features. Moreover, the sub-4 meter SUV will receive a new 1.5L K15C petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox option.

The SUV will get a larger free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, navigation and voice assist. The new Brezza will get the factory-fitted sunroof, a 360 degree camera, paddle shifters, cruise control, and others. Adding to it, the SUV will also get a factory-fitted CNG option.

5. New Maruti Alto

Maruti Suzuki is testing the new Alto hatchback, which appears completely different from the current car. It will be based on the new HEARTECT lightweight platform that underpins the new WagonR and the Celerio. The small car will grow in size and will be wider, taller and longer than the outgoing model.

Inside the cabin, the new Alto is likely to get a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic AC and a multi-functional steering wheel. The new Alto is likely to be offered by a 1.0L K10C petrol engine that’s good for 66bhp and 89Nm. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. It could also get the existing 796cc, 3-cylinder petrol motor producing power worth 47bhp and 69Nm of torque. The hatchback might also get a factory-fitted CNG kit.

6. New Maruti YFG Mid-Sized SUV

Maruti Suzuki will launch a new mid-sized SUV in the country before the end of this year. Codenamed YFG, the new model will be based on Toyota’s DNGA (Daihatsu New Generation Architecture) platform. The new model will be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi based plant. The new mid-sized SUV will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, MG Astor and the Skoda Kushaq.

It is reportedly to be powered by a ‘strong hybrid’ petrol engine, which will be sourced from Toyota. The new powertrain will comprise of a petrol engine paired to a small battery. This powertrain will allow the YFG SUV to run purely on electric power for limited distances.

7. Maruti Jimny

Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Jimny lifestyle SUV in India in 2023. The company is preparing a long-wheelbase version of the Jimny, which is expected to debut in early next year. The company will launch the 5-door version of the lifestyle SUV in India. It will measure 3850mm in length, 1645mm in width and 1730mm in height with a wheelbase of 2550mm. This makes it around 300mm longer than the globally sold 3-door Jimny. It is likely to be powered by a new 102bhp, 1.5L K15C Dualjet petrol engine with smart hybrid tech. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.

8. Maruti YTB Coupe SUV

Maruti Suzuki is also preparing a new Coupe SUV, which will be positioned alongside the Vitara Brezza. It could be the production version of the Futuro-e Concept, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. Codenamed YTB, the new SUV Coupe is likely to be based on Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform.  It will be sold through NEXA premium dealerships. The upcoming Maruti YTB Compact Coupe SUV will be offered with a single petrol engine option. It is likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine with a stronger hybrid with a greater degree of electrification. This will help in achieving higher fuel efficiency.
