Maruti Suzuki has planned multiple new models to strengthen its SUV market in coming years. Besides this, the Indo-Japanese automaker will also bring in a new MPV that will be based on the Toyota Innova Hycross. The latter one will make its world debut in November, followed by its India launch in January 2023. The new Maruti MPV is expected to hit roads in the second half of 2023. Interestingly, it will be the first Toyota’s rebadged model for Maruti Suzuki.
Being a premium product, the new Maruti MPV will be retailed via Nexa dealership network. In terms of pricing and positioning, it will sit above the Ertiga and face challenge from the Kia Carens and the upcoming Hyundai Stargazer and Toyota’s new C-segment MPV. Maruti’s new three-row MPV will be designed on Toyota’s TNGA-C platform and it’s likely to come with the two powertrains – a naturally aspirated petrol and a strong hybrid.
The upcoming Toyota Innova HyCross is likely to come with the heavily localized hybrid system. Unlike the existing Innova that has RWD setup, the new one will have FWD (front-wheel drive) system. The new Maruti MPV will share most of its design elements, features and components with the Innova HyCross. Though, it might feature a differently designed front grille, bumper and headlamps. A few changes could be made to its rear section as well.
Interior of Maruti’s new C-segment MPV might share resemblance with the newly-launched Grand Vitara and Hyryder SUVs. We expect it come equipped with features such as leatherette steering wheel, a 360 degree camera, a sunroof, digital instrument cluster, Head-up display, Suzuki connected car features, wireless charger, SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, ambient door lighting, multiple airbags, reverse parking camera and cruise control.
