Upcoming New Honda SUVs – Brezza, Creta, Alcazar Rivals

Honda is planning to expand its product portfolio in India in the next couple of years. This time around, the Japanese automaker will focus on the fastest growing SUV segment with three new models. One must note that there is no official word on the upcoming new Honda SUVs. Though, the reports suggest that the company will target the subcompact, mid-size and 7-seater SUV segment.

In the sub-4 metre SUV space, the automaker might bring in the new-generation Honda WR-V to challenge the new Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue. The all-new WR-V is likely to derive its design inspiration from the Honda RS SUV concept that was unveiled at the 2022 GIIAS. The compact SUV could be offered with a 1.5L i-VTEC petrol engine that’s good enough for 121PS and 145Nm. There could be two gearboxes on offer – a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The model will share its platform with the Honda Amaze subcompact sedan. It might make its debut towards the end of this year and its India launch is likely to happen in 2023.

As mentioned above, Honda Cars India will also foray into the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment to challenge Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, newly-launched Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. If reports are to be believed, the upcoming new Honda SUV could be made available with the City Hybrid’s powertrain – i.e. 1.5L, 4-cylinder Atkinson Cycle with two electric motors. It’s likely to measure around 4.3 metres in length. The model is reported to launch sometime in 2024.

Rumour has it that the Japanese automaker is also considering a three-row SUV to take on the Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari. It might come with two seating layouts – 6 and 7-seats. The model might underpin the new-generation Honda BR-V platform.

More details on the upcoming new Honda SUVs are likely to be revealed in near future. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
