At the 2016 edition of the Auto Expo, we saw several all-new cars and future concepts that will be launched in the Indian market in the next 2-3 years. There is an equally large number of cars that weren’t showcased at the Motor Show, but they will be launched in the next couple of years . Here’s a list of all the upcoming cars in India –
India’s largest selling car – Maruti Alto has been facing stiff competition from the likes of Renault Kwid and Datsun Redi Go. In order to maintain its supremacy in the entry-level hatch segment, MSI is planning to launch the next generation Alto in the country. The next model is likely to have a contemporary and crossover-ish design.
The next generation Alto is likely to retain the existing 0.8-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine. This engine might be tuned to extract more power and fuel efficiency. Transmission options could include a 5-speed manual and an automated manual transmission (AMT).
|Expected Price||Rs 3 lakh – Rs 4.50 lakh|
Thanks to its aggressive pricing, highly frugal powertrain and a great value-for-money proposition, the Tata Tiago is already the top-selling model for the company. To further increase its sales, the company has plans to bring in an AMT version of the car later this year. The AMT unit could be the same that does duty in the Tata Zest as well. Save for the gearbox, there will be no changes made to the vehicle.
The company has plans to bring in a crossover as well based on the hatchback, which might be called Tiago Aktiv. The company had showcased the Tiago Aktiv – basically a highly accessorised version of the hatch – at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. With plastic cladding around the body, roof rails, black sticker stripes on either sides and few other elements, the Tiago Aktiv Cross surely looks lot more aggressive and sportier than the regular hatchback. Upon its launch, this could rival products like Chevrolet Beat Activ.
|Expected Price||Rs 4.0 lakh – Rs 5 lakh (AMT variants)|
|Expected Launch||Mid 2017|
