Indian car buyers always looking for a product that offers spacious cabin to accommodate 7-adults comfortably. Known as MPVs or MUVs, these cars come with capable engines and feature-loaded cabin. Here is the list of upcoming MPVs that will go on sale in India in the next 2 years –

Toyota Innova Facelift

Japanese automaker, Toyota will give a mid-life facelift to its popular Innova Crysta MPV in India. The new model is expected to arrive in late 2019 or early 2020. It will receive cosmetic changes in terms of styling, while the cabin is likely to receive more features. The MPV is likely to receive an upgraded touchscreen infotainment system with modern connectivity features. The MPV will also receive BSVI compliant 2.4-litre diesel and 2.7-litre petrol engines.

Expected Launch – 2019-2020

Kia Grand Carnival

Korean automaker, Kia will officially enter into India in 2019 with a new SUV based on SP concept. Besides this SUV, the company will also aiming to enter into the MPV segment. At the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, Kia had showcased the Grand Carnival MPV which is already on sale in select international markets. The Grand Carnival will be brand’s premium MPV. It is bigger than India’s best-selling MPV – Toyota Innova Crysta. This model is around 380mm longer and has 310mm longer wheelbase than the Innova, which ensures spacious cabin. The India-spec Carnival will be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 200bhp of power and 441Nm of torque.

Renault RBC

French automaker, Renault is working on an all-new entry-level MPV – codenamed RBC – in the Indian market. The car will be based on Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A platform that also underpins the Kwid. The new model is expected to sit under 4 meter in length and will come with three-row seats. Mitsubishi Xpander

Japanese automaker, Mitsubishi is planning to launch 3 all-new Utility Vehicles in the Indian market by 2020. The company is also considering the Xpander MPV, which is already on sale in the Indonesian market. The Crossover-MPV could be locally developed at Renault-Nissan Alliance’s plant in India. It is powered by a EURO IV-compliant 4A91 1.50-litre MIVEC four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine that produces 105PS of power and 141Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. In terms of proportions, the MPV is 4,475mm in length, 1,750mm in width and 1,700mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,775mm. The MPV has a ground clearance of 205mm, while the boot space stands at 1,630-litres.

Toyota Alphard

At the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, Toyota had showcased the Alphard luxurious MPV. This model is much bigger than the Innova Crysta and can set up to 8 people comfortably. The Alphard is one of the most luxurious MPVs currently on sale in the global market. It is powered by the same 2.5-litre engine that also powers the Camry Hybrid.
