The compact SUV segment is witnessing a huge demand in the market. Almost every model in this segment has been a decent seller. Ford’s smallest SUV, EcoSport is still the company’s best-selling model in the country. India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki had entered in this segment with the Vitara Brezza, which is currently the best-selling SUV of the country. Seeing the constant growing demand for small SUVs, renowned automakers are also readying their products to enter in this segment. Mahindra XUV300

Feeling the heat from growing competition, India’s leading UV maker is working on a range of new SUVs including a sub-4 meter SUV. The company will launch an all-new sub-4 meter SUV, called the Mahindra XUV300. The small SUV will be based on the SsangYong’s X100 platform that also underpins the Tivoli. The Mahindra XUV300 will come with a range of segment-leading features including factory-fitted sunroof, all-4 disc brakes, leather-seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, smart-steering with multiple modes, etc. It will be available with 2 engine options – a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Hyundai Styx

Hyundai had showcased the Carlino sub-4 meter SUV at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The company has confirmed that the production ready model will make its way to market in the first half of 2019. Likely to be called Hyundai Styx, the sub-4 meter SUV will make its debut at the 2019 New York Auto Show in April. While the Carlino was based on the i20’s platform, the production-ready model will use the new-gen Santro’s platform. It will share most of its interior components with the Elite i20 hatchback. The model will be offered with two engine options – 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel. Both manual and automatic versions of the SUV will be on offer.

Kia Compact SUV

Korean automaker, Kia will first launch the SP concept based SUV in India in 2019. The second Kia product for Indian market will be a sub-4 meter SUV. The Korean carmaker’s sub-4 meter SUV will share its platform, components and features with Hyundai’s upcoming compact SUV. What’s interesting is that the new sub-4 meter SUV will be based on the new-gen Santro’s platform. It will take on the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel and 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines developing 115bhp and 118bhp respectively.

Jeep Sub-4 Meter SUV

American SUV maker, Jeep has officially announced to launch 2 all-new products – a sub-4 meter SUV and a D-Segment 7-seater SUV for Indian market. The new compact SUV will be based on new Panda’s 4×4 platform. It will be the brand’s most affordable model in India and will challenge the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. It will be powered by a 1.6-litre MJD diesel engine and a 1.4-litre petrol engine.

Peugeot sub-4 meter SUV

PSA Group owned Peugeot will soon enter into the growing Indian auto market. The company will initially launch a sub-4 meter SUV and a premium hatchback. Though, the exact details about the product is yet to be known. The company has 2008 SUV in its global portfolio, which measures 4.1 meter in length. Datsun Cross 2018

Nissan’s low-cost brand, Datsun is all set to enter into the compact SUV segment with its all-new sub-4 meter SUV. The company had showcased the Go Cross model at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. However, the India-spec model will use the all-new CMF-A platform. The new model will be cheaper than its direct rivals including Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon. The SUV will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine.

Honda sub-4 meter SUV

Japanese automaker is all set to launch the new generation Amaze compact sedan, which is based on Honda’s new platform. The company officials has confirmed that Honda is evaluating a sub-4 meter SUV on this platform for Indian market. This model will share its mechanics and features with the Amaze.
