Feeling the heat from growing competition, India’s leading SUV maker is planning to introduce a range of new SUVs including a sub-4 meter SUV. The company will launch an all-new sub-4 meter SUV based on the SsangYong’s X100 platform that also underpins the Tivoli. This model is reportedly to be called Mahindra XUV300. It is also expected to be the most powerful SUV in its category. This SUV will be equipped with a newly developed 1.2l petrol and 1.5l diesel engines.
Hyundai had showcased the Carlino sub-4 meter SUV at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The company has confirmed that the production ready model will soon make its way to market. It will share most of its interior components with the Elite i20 hatchback. The model will be offered with two engine options – 1.4l petrol and 1.4l diesel. Both manual and automatic versions of the SUV will be on offer.
Peugeot sub-4 meter SUV
PSA Group owned Peugeot will soon enter into the growing Indian auto market. The company will initially launch a sub-4 meter SUV and a premium hatchback. Nissan’s low-cost brand, Datsun is all set to enter into the compact SUV segment with its Cross 2018 model. The model was unveiled at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo in concept form. Datsun has already launched the Cross in the Indonesian market, and the same model is expected to make its way to Indian market. It will be powered by a 1.2l petrol engine that also powers the GO twins.
Honda sub-4 meter SUV
Japanese automaker is all set to launch the new generation Amaze compact sedan, which is based on Honda’s new platform. The company officials has confirmed that Honda is evaluating a sub-4 meter SUV on this platform for Indian market. This model will share its mechanics and features with the Amaze.
