Upcoming Mahindra Cars in India in the Next Two Years

Here’re launch and other details of the upcoming new Mahindra cars in India.

Famous for its utility and sports utility vehicles, the homegrown auto major, Mahindra ruled the segment for long. However, it is facing tough competition from the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors in the UV space. Determined to regain lost ground in the segment, Mahindra had introduced multiple new SUVs including the new Thar, XUV700 and the Scorpio-N. In order to further strengthen its position in the UV segment, Mahindra plans to launch a range of new SUVs in the next 2-3 years. Here’s a look at all upcoming Mahindra cars in India in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Upcoming Mahindra Cars in 2023, 2024, 2025

1. Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus

Mahindra is all set to introduce the extended version of the Bolero Neo in the country. Called the Bolero Neo Plus, the SUV is likely to be offered with two seating configurations – 7 and 9-seats. It will also be offered with an ambulance variant with 4-seats layout and a patient bed. In terms of proportions, the SUV is 4400mm long, 1795mm wide and 1812mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2680mm. 

The new model looks largely identical to the Bolero Neo; however, it received some changes to keep things fresh. Instead of a blacked-out C-pillar, it has body-coloured pillars. It gets new rear bumper and smaller reflector panels, a tailgate-mounted spare tyre with badging and extended rear door. The SUV will be powered by a 2.2L mHawk diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This powertrain produces 130PS and 300Nm of torque. 

2. 5-door Mahindra Thar

The next model in our list of upcoming Mahindra cars is the 5-door or long wheelbase version of the Mahindra Thar. It is expected to be launched by the end of 2023 or early 2024. The 5-door Mahindra Thar will have 300mm longer wheelbase than its 3-door model. It is expected to be based on the new Scorpio-N’s ladder-frame chassis with increased width between the wheelbase for bettery wheelbase-to-track ratio. The SUV will have an extra door for the middle row passengers. 

The cabin layout will be similar to the existing model and will have a three seat bench layout in the middle row and provide bigger boot space. The SUV is expected to share its powertrains with the Scorpio N. It will be offered with a 200bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol and a 172bhp, 2.2L turbo diesel engine. It can be had with either a manual or an automatic gearbox. 

3. New-gen Mahindra Bolero

Mahindra will launch the next gen Bolero in our market in 2024. The SUV enjoys huge popularity among buyers in rural and semi-urban markets. It is reportedly to be based on the new ladder-frame chassis that underpins the Thar and the Scorpio-N. The new model is likely to retain the original look; however, it will come with several new design elements and body panels. 

The cabin will receive maximum changes with better fit & finish levels and material quality. It could also get some modern day features like a touchscreen infotainment system, a multi-functional steering wheel, height adjustable driver’s seat and automatic AC. The SUV is likely to feature a 2.2L mHawk diesel and a 2.0L turbo petrol engine along with manual and automatic gearbox options. 

4. New Mahindra XUV500

Mahindra had replaced the XUV500 SUV with an all-new XUV700 that is offered in 5-and 7-seat options. The homegrown UV maker has confirmed that the XUV500 nameplate will return and will come with significant changes. It will be significantly smaller than the previous model. If reports are to be believed, the new XUV500 will measure around 4.3 meters in length. This will make it a direct rival to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, VW Taigun, Maruti Grand Vitara and others in its category. 

The new Mahindra XUV500 will be designed and developed on the modified version of the XUV300 platform. The same platform is modified to accommodate the XUV400 electric, which measures 4.2 meters in length. The SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and diesel engine options. The company could also launch the electrified version of the XUV500.

Upcoming Mahindra Electric SUVs

Mahindra has announced to launch 5 new electric SUVs under the new XUV and BE nameplates in our market. The company has recently revealed 5 new electric SUVs namely – XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09. All 5 electric SUVs will share the platform and battery module; however, all will have different in terms of outputs. 

5. Mahindra XUV e8

Mahindra has officially announced that the XUV.e8 will be the brand’s first born electric model to enter the production line. It will go on sale in our market by December 2024. Rumoured to be called the XUV800, the new EV is based on the INGLO platform that’s Born electric platform. It has basic layout and silhouette and three row of seats similar to the XUV700. 

It is around 45mm longer, 10mm wider and 5mm taller than the XUV700, while the wheelbase is raised by 7mm. The SUV measures 4740mm in length, 1900mm in width and 1760mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2762mm. The electric SUV will feature an all-wheel drive layout and an 80kWh battery pack. It is claimed to offer a power output in the range of 230hp to 350hp. 

6. Mahindra XUV e9

The XUV.e9 electric SUV will go on sale in our market by April 2025. This Born electric SUV will come with a coupe-like design. Dimensionally, the XUV.e9 is 4,790mm in length, 1,905mm win width and 1,690mm in height. This 5-seater premium Coupe SUV will ride on a 2,775mm long wheelbase. 

The design inspiration for the new XUV.e9 comes from the XUV Aero concept, which debuted at the 2018 Auto Expo. It comes with LED lighting elements, bumper-mounted headlamps and closed-off front grille, a coupe-like design at the rear and a flat tail section. The coupe EV has prominent gloss-black cladding all-around the body. It will share the battery pack and electric motors with the XUV.e8.

7. Mahindra BE 05

It will be the first model under the BE nameplate, which will go on sale by October 2025. This Sports Electric Vehicle will be positioned above the Mahindra XUV400. In terms of proportions, the electric SUV is 4,370mm long, 1,900mm wide and 1,635mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,775mm. In terms of styling, the SUV gets an aggressive front fascia with angular C-shaped headlamps and prominent airdams. It has sharp cuts and creases on the front along with a striking air-duct on the bonnet. The BE 05 comes with flush door handles and a sloping roofline that merges into the chunky rear-end. The electric SUV has a driver-focussed cabin, featuring a large twin touchscreens with no physical buttons for AC controls & other functions. 

8. Mahindra BE 07

Scheduled to be launched by October 2026, the new Mahindra BE 07 will be positioned between the BE05 and the XUVe8. It will be based on the INGLO platform, which shares components from Volkswagen’s MEB platform. Dimensionally, the new BE07 is 4,565mm in length, 1,900mm in width and 1,660mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,775mm. This model has a traditional SUV styling. It gets C-shaped headlights, large wheel arches and flush door handles. The electric SUV comes with a technically advanced cabin with no physical buttons. It features a giant screen that covers the entire dashboard. This mid-sized EV also has a large panoramic sunroof.

9. Mahindra BE 09

Mahindra had also showcased the BE.09 electric SUV; however, the exact launch timeline for the EV is yet to be revealed. It will be based on the same INGLO platform and will be positioned above the BE.07 in terms of size and pricing. Similar to the BE.05, the new BE.09 is a proper Coupe-SUV. It looks like a coupe version of the BE.07 and features an upright front design, and a prominent coupe-like sloping roofline. Mahindra confirms that the BE.09 will be a four-seater model.
