Upcoming Hyundai i20N Testing in the Snow – Officially Teased

Korean automaker, Hyundai has officially released 2 new videos and first images of the much-awaited new-gen i20N. The upcoming Hyundai i20N has been revealed via a video showing winter testing of high-performance Hyundai models, including the camouflaged prototype of the upcoming new i20 N. Hyundai’s WRC driver Thierry Neuville tested the i20 N along with the i20 WRC and the RM19 on the frozen lake and on snowy landscape of Arjeplog, Sweden.

The video shows the prototype of the all-new i20N prototype, which has covered front and rear. This video only reveals limited details about the new model. The second video shows several details about the new i20N. Adding to it, Neuville gives feedback on each model and revealing the unique characteristics of each car from his perspective.

Commenting on the all-new Hyundai i20N, Neuville said, “Very interesting car, very precise, very easy handling. The engine is revving nicely and the noise is very interesting as well. I’m looking forward to get this one to drive in WRC!”

Going by the images, it is visible that the overall profile of the i20N is similar to the regular model. It gets several new design elements like new and larger wheels, aerodynamic package and spoiler on the rear cover. It will also receive updated steering and suspension set-up. The new i20N will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is widely used by Hyundai and Kia Motors, and is capable of producing around 204bhp of power and 265Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Talking about India, Hyundai will launch the next-gen i20 hatchback during festive season 2020. The new model has received all-new design and premium interior. The hatchback is longer and wider than the outgoing model and rides on longer wheelbase, which will allow Hyundai to create more space inside the cabin. It will be equipped with high-end features like 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, BlueLink connected car technology, wireless charging and many more. The new i20 will be offered with 3 engine options – a 83bhp, 1.2L petrol, a 118bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol and a 99bhp, 1.5L diesel.
