According to official data, over 48,000 units of two-wheelers are sold every day with most of the sales coming from the commuters. 1. Hero Xtreme 200R

Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two wheeler maker is all set to enter the growing 200cc sports bike segment. The company will launch the long-awaited Xtreme 200R naked sports bike in the country in coming weeks. While the pre-production version of the bike was showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the production ready model made its public debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. Set to rival the likes of Bajaj Pulsar NS200, TVS Apache RTR 200 and Yamaha FZ25, the Hero Xtreme 200R is undoubtedly one of the most awaited upcoming bikes in India under Rs 1 lakh.

This naked streetfighte is heavily inspired by the Xtreme Sports in terms of design. Built on the diamond type frame, the new bike derives its power from an air-cooled, single cylinder 200cc engine with 18.4bhp and 17.1Nm torque. Transmission duties are performed by the 5-speed gearbox.

Expected Price: Rs 90,000 – Rs 1.10 lakh

2. Honda CB 125F

HMSI has confirmed that it will launch 18 updated models of its existing products along with an all-new bike. Reports in media suggest that the new Honda CB125F will be one of the new models the company has scheduled for this year. Set to take on the Hero Glamour and Bajaj Discover 125, the Honda CB 125F is estimated to be priced between Rs 65,000 – 70,000. The bike’s new model will look completely different from its old version. Major updates include new LED headlamp, re-designed visor and mud guard, revised exhaust, split grab rails and new fuel tank. Power for the bike comes from the 124.7cc, 4-stroke, 2-valve air-cooled engine that’s good for 10bhp and 11Nm of torque.

3. Bajaj V22

Another likely product to join our list of upcoming bikes in India under Rs 1 lakh is the Bajaj V22. The company is already selling two models under its V brand including V15 and V12, and the V22 could be the next model to join the league. In terms of positioning, it will reportedly be larger than the V15 and V12 siblings and is likely to be positioned above them. While the company is yet tight-lipped about the new model, however, it is believed that Bajaj could share engine with Pulsar 220.

The 220cc, oil-cooled engine, paired to a five-speed gearbox produces 21.05bhp of maximum power and 19.12Nm of torque. Suspension mechanism on the V22 is likely to include telescopic forks at front and monoshock absorbers at rear. Design inputs are likely to be borrowed from café racer and scrambler and stopping power will come from Brembo disc brakes. There could also be an optional ABS system.

4. New Hero Dawn

The new-generation Hero Dawn that is expected to be available with 100cc and 125cc engines. Among the various new elements on the new Dawn, the commuter is likely to get additional footrest, new stylish speedometer, more comfortable seat and a wide rear carrier. Additionally, it will get new body graphics, ergonomically designed bits for more comfort and improved performance. The engine used in the 100cc version is the 97.2cc, 4-stroke, single cylinder, air-cooled engine and the 125cc model comes with a 124.7cc, 4-stroke, single cylinder unit.

5. Suzuki Burgman Street

Suzuki Motorcycle India unveiled its maxi scooter – Burgman Street – at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. This premium scooter will be stacked up against the Vespa LX 125, and estimated to be priced around Rs 70,000. With unique styling and advanced features, the Suzuki Burgman Street will target young urban buyers. The scooter shares its engine with the Suzuki Access 125 – i.e. a 125cc, single-cylinder petrol unit. This motor delivers a top power of 8.40bhp and 10.20Nm of torque. Transmission duties are carried out by a CVT gearbox. It comes equipped with telescopic forks upfront and swing arm type rear suspension setup. The scooter derives its stopping power from the front disc and rear drum brakes.

Expected Price: Rs 70,000

6. Yamaha Aerox 155

Considering the growing demand of the urban scooters, Yamaha is planning to bring in the all-new Aerox 155. Already on sale in Malaysia, the Yamaha Aerox 155 makes use of the 155cc, single-cylinder engine supported by the five-speed manual gearbox. This liquid-cooled motor is benefited with Yamaha’s Blue Core technology. It delivers 14.8bhp and 14.4Nm of torque. Some of its highlights include dual LED headlamp, wide tubeless tyres, seat and fuel lid buttons, electric socket, 5.8-inch LCD digital meter panel, big storage capacity, etc.

The home-grown two-wheeler maker, Hero MotoCorp showcased its two 125cc scooters – Duet and Maestro – at the Auto Expo 2018. Both the models will take on the Honda Activa, Honda Grazia and Suzuki Access 125. Power for the vehicles comes from a 125cc, single-energy cylinder Boost engine pushing out a maximum power of 8.7bhp and 10.2Nm of torque. The Duet and Maestro are the first scooters in their segments to get i3S (idle-start-stop-system) technology. The Maestro Edge 125 features an LED taillight, service indicators, digital analogue instrumentation and optional front disc brake.

8. Aprilia Storm 125

Making inroads into the Indian market lately, the company is now planning to expand its SR range by adding new variants to the line-up. Called the Aprilia Storm 125, the scooter is aimed at young urban buyers. In terms of looks, the upcoming scooter under Rs 1 lakh borrows most of the cues from its sibling, SR125. Some of its key features include 12-inch wheels with Vee Rubber-branded off-road tyres, a large windscreen, etc. Previewed at the 2018 Auto Expo, the Storm 125 makes use of a 125cc unit that’s good for 10.5bhp and 9.9Nm of torque, while the transmission duties will be handled by a CVT.

9. Honda PCX 125

The long awaited Honda PCX 125 is the next and most exciting model in the list of upcoming scooters in India under Rs 1 lakh. As a reminder, Honda has showcased the PCX 125 scooter at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Sporting features such as the enhanced Smart Power, theft proof system and smart navigation, the scooter seems to be a promising product. For power, the scooter uses 124.9cc, 4-stroke 2-valve SOHC engine that delivers 11.17bhp at 8,000rpm and 11.56Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. This liquid cooling motor, paired to an automatic gearbox, delivers a top speed of 96kmph. Suspension mechanism includes 31mm telescopic fork and twin suspension aluminium swingarm. Power for the scooter comes from 220mm hydraulic disc front and 130mm combined leading/trailing drum rear brakes.

10. Hero Zir 150

Hero Zir is among the highly anticipated upcoming scooters in India under Rs 1 lakh. The sporty model was displayed at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi and is likely to be launched in two variants-a ‘European Style’ step-through and the flat floorboard. For power generation, it will use a 157cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine good for maximum power of 13.9bhp and 12.7Nm of torque. On the feature front, expect the scooter to get dual projector lamps with DRLs, European-styled seat and LED winkers and tail-lamps. In addition, it will also get flower type disc plates, integrated pillion handle, a digital analog console and an array of connectivity features.

11. New Bajaj Chetak

Bajaj is thinking to resurrect its Chetak brand. The patented images of the scooter were leaked online few months ago, hinting at the re-launch of the iconic brand. It is expected that Chetak will sport a contemporary design and will be a part of the premium scooter range, albeit it will retain its retro-styling. Interestingly, the new Chetak will be a unisex model for people across age groups. In tandem with other gearless scooters, Chetak will also get a CVT, while power will reportedly come from the 125cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine with Bajaj’s DTS-I technology. In terms of power, expect the engine to make 9 to 10bhp with 9Nm of torque.
