Korean automaker, Hyundai is all set to launch an all-new entry level hatchback – codenamed AH – in the Indian market. If reports are to be believed, the new model could be named Hyundai Santro. The hatchback is likely to get a new 1.0-litre petrol engine. Besides manual gearbox, the Santro will become Hyundai’s first car in India to feature an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) unit. We believe the AMT version of the Santro hatchback could be priced at Rs 4 lakh.
India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki had unveiled the Future S Concept at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Featuring a crossover look, this concept previews the company’s future entry-level car. This model is expected to feature the brand’s 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine that produces 67bhp and 91Nm of torque. For transmission duties, this model will come with a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.
Maruti’s top-selling SUV – Vitara Brezza – is all set to receive a petrol engine. The vehicle is currently available in diesel version only. The SUV is expected to feature a 1.0-litre Boosterjet unit that produces 100bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. Besides, Maruti is expected to launch the Vitara Brezza diesel AMT in the market.
At the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, Tata Motors unveiled the AMT version of the Nexon. The company will launch the AMT version of the Nexon by the mid-2018. Interestingly, Tata will add AMT gearbox to both petrol and diesel versions. The SUV is powered by 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and a 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engine. Both engines will be paired to a 6-speed AMT unit.
Japanese automaker, Honda will launch the new generation Amaze sub-4 meter sedan in the Indian market. Unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, the new Amaze will be based on an all-new platform which is lighter, stiffer and safer. The vehicle will continue to feature the existing set of engines – 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. For the first time, Honda will launch the automatic version of the diesel Amaze in India. This model will be paired to a CVT automatic unit.
