MG Hector Plus

MG Hector Plus Launch Date

The first model in our list of the upcoming 7-seater SUVs under 20 lakhs is the MG Hector Plus, which was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Based on the Hector, the 6 or 7-seater Hector Plus will be launched in the country during festive season 2020. The SUV is 40mm longer than the 5-seater sibling, though the width, height and wheelbase (1,835mm x 1,760mm x 2,750mm) remains unchanged. The ground clearance stands at 198mm.

The SUV will be offered in 6 as well as 7-seat layout. While the 6-seater version will come with captain seats for second row and have 50:50 split ratio for the third row seats. The 7-seater model, on the other hand, will come with 60:40 split bench seats. The SUV also receives cosmetic design changes in the form of upgraded grille, revised headlamp and tail-lights, new alloys, etc. It will be offered with the same engine options – a 1.5L turbo petrol, a 1.5L petrol with 48V mild-hybrid setup and a 2.0L diesel.

Homegrown passenger vehicle maker, Tata Motors has officially announced to launch the new Gravitas SUV during festive season, 2020. It will be the brand’s second model to be based on the OMEGA ARC platform, which also underpins the Harrier. The new model is basically the 7-seat version of the 5-seater Harrier. Compared to the 5-seater model, the Tata Gravitas is 63mm longer, 72mm wider and 80mm taller. Though, the wheelbase and ground clearance remains the same at 2,741mm and 200mm respectively.

It will be powered by a BSVI compliant 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the Harrier. This engine is capable of producing 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The SUV will also come with multiple drive modes including Eco, City and Sport. It will also get Terrain Response System with three modes – Wet, Rough and Normal.

Hyundai Creta 7-Seater

Korean automaker, Hyundai has started testing the 7-seater version of the Creta SUV. The SUV has recently been caught testing in Korea, revealing interesting details about the styling. It is expected to be launched in early 2021. The SUV is expected to receive revised front grille with chrome studs, revised bumper, front parking sensors, flatter roof and slimmer C-pillar.

It is expected that the 7-seat Hyundai Creta will ride on 20mm longer wheelbase, while the overall length will be increased by 30mm. The outgoing model rides on 2,610mm of wheelbase. The SUV will rival the likes of the Tata Gravitas, MG Hector Plus and the next-gen Mahindra XUV500. The SUV is likely to share the engine line-up with the 5-seater model, which includes a 1.5-litre petrol, a 1.5L turbo-diesel and 1.4L turbocharged petrol.

The next model in our list of the upcoming 7-seater SUVs is the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio. Mahindra will launch the next-gen Scorpio SUV in the mid-2021. The new model will ride on the modified version of the existing ZEN3 platform, which will also underpin the new-gen Thar. The new model will grow in size, which will help the automaker to create more space inside the cabin. The SUV is also likely to get forward-facing third row of seats.

The 2021 Mahindra Scorpio design is likely to be inspired by the Alturas G4. It will also receive a new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 160bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. It will receive a newly developed 6-speed manual gearbox along with a 4WD system as optional. The petrol version will also receive a new 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine that produces 190bhp and 380Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

New Mahindra XUV500

The next-gen Mahindra XUV500 will be launched in the first quarter of 2021. The new model will be based on the newly developed moncoque front-wheel-drive platform, which will also underpin the Ford C-SUV. It was first previewed as the Funster electric SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. Design of the SUV could be inspired by the Funster and the new-gen SsangYong Korando.

The new model will be offered with 2 engine options – a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel and a new 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol. While the diesel engine is likely to produce around 180bhp of power and close to 400Nm of torque, the turbocharged petrol engine produces 190bhp and 380Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the SUV will receive a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
