After receiving positive response for Renegade series, UM Motorcycles is now planning to add more variants to Renegade family in India. We informed you earlier that the American automaker is considering the Renegade electric bike for the Indian market, which is also likely to be unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Interestingly, the company is also planning to launch an affordable version of the motorcycle in the country. Called UM Renegade Duty 230, the motorcycle has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. If reports are to be believed, this cruiser will be launched at the 14th edition of Delhi Auto Expo in February.
The motorcycle will be powered by a 230cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine paired to a five-speed manual gearbox. The UM Renegade Duty 230 will be the company’s most affordable bike in the market. It will directly rival the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Bajaj Avenger 220. This motorcycle will be developed at the company’s Uttarakhand facility.
UM Renegade Duty 230 Launch Date
If reports are to be believed, the motorcycle will be unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. While the exact launch details are yet to be announced, we believe that the bike could be launched before the end of March 2018. We will update our readers as soon as UM announces its launch date.
UM Renegade Duty 230 Price In India

UM Renegade Duty 230 Specifications
This motorcycle will be powered by a 221cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine that also powers the company’s global Xtreet R 230 model. This engine is capable of producing 17.28bhp of power and 16.54Nm of torque. In India, the company could tune this engine to offer slightly more torque. It is expected to offer around 18bhp of power and close to 20Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheel via a 5-speed gearbox.
UM Renegade Duty 230 Mileage

The Renegade Duty 230 looks like a stripped down version of the Renegade Commando, as it does not carry the bulkiness and road presence of its cousin. The bike features chrome housing for the headlight and blinkers, LED daytime running lights, wire spoke wheels, split seat and a pillion backrest, etc. It has wider and flat handlebar and forward set footpegs give it the typical cruiser-like stance. This affordable cruiser is expected to features the company’s Anti-flat Sealand tyres. The tire sealand handles punctures and has balancing properties. It features a single-pod instrument console, which is expected to be digital unit.

UM Renegade Duty 230 Suspension and Braking
For suspension duties, the bike gets telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Stopping power will be provided by a single-disc upfront and a drum unit at the rear. It will miss out on ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System).
