Ultraviolette F77 With 307km Range Launched At Rs 3.80 Lakh

The long-awaited Ultraviollete F77 electric motorcycle has finally been launched in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 3.80 lakh, the new motorcycle can be booked online at a token amount of Rs 10,000. With a claimed top speed of 152km, the new F77 is the fastest electric bike on sale in our market. Deliveries for the motorcycle will commence from January onwards.

For people not in the know, the TVS-backed Bengaluru based startup had showcased the new F77 electric motorcycle concept in 2019. The concept was equipped with removable battery packs; however, the production-spec model comes with a new battery pack that is fixed, larger and has more lithium-ion cells.

The F77 limited edition is fitted with 10.3kWh battery pack, which is the largest battery size for any electric two-wheeler in India. The electric motor pushes out 40.5bhp of maximum power and 100Nm of torque. The motorcycle is claimed to offer 307km of range (Indian Driving Cycle) on a single charge.

It offers 3 ride modes – Glide, Combat & Ballistic. The original prototype was claimed to offer a range of over 150km on a single charge. It is claimed to achieve 0 to 60kmph in less than 3 seconds and 0 to 100kmph in 7.8 seconds before hitting a top speed of 152kms.

Ultraviolette F77 Recon Range

The Ultraviolette F77 Recon electric motor pushes out 38.8bhp of maximum power and 95Nm of torque. This variant accelerates to 60kmph from zero in 3.1 seconds and 0 to 100kmph in 8 seconds. It is claimed to offer a top speed of 147kmph.

The F77 Original or standard electric motor draws power from a 7.1kWh battery pack. The usable power and torque stands at 36.2bhp and 85Nm respectively. This variant is claimed to offer a certified range of 206km. The standard model has a maximum speed of 140kmph. It is claimed to achieve 0 to 60kmph acceleration and 0 to 100kmph acceleration in 3.4 seconds and 8.3 seconds respectively.

Ultraviolette F77 Design

To fix a bigger capacity & single battery pack, Ultraviolette has made several changes to motorcycle. The F77 electric motorcycle is based on a completely re-designed chassis. The chassis now has a spine section that joins the headstock to the load-bearing motor mount. The company claims that the new frame is two times stiffer than the old frame. The battery pack hangs below the frame. The company has used passive air-cooling to ensure effective heat management of the battery pack. The swingarm has also been redesigned and is made using a cost-effective casting method.

For suspension duties, the motorcycle gets USD front forks and a monoshock at the rear, and both of which are pre-load adjustable. The electric motorcycle comes with a 320mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS.

Charging Options & Dimensions

The F77 comes with two charging options – Standard and Boost. While the standard can charge the battery to attain 35km range in 1 hour, the Boost charger offers 75km of range per hours of charge.

The motorcycle has a wheelbase of 1340mm and offers a seat height of 800mm. The ground clearance stands at 160mm for all 3 variants. While the F77 weighs 197kg, the kerb weight for Recon and Limited edition stands at 207kg. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels shod with 110/70 and 150/60 section front and rear tyres respectively.

Battery Warranty

The company is offering 3 years and 30,000km warranty on F77 battery & drivetrain. The F77 Recon comes with 5 years or 50,000km battery warranty, which increases to 8 years or 1 lakh km for the limited edition model.

The new motorcycle is being manufactured at the brand’s new manufacturing and assembly factory near Electronic City in Bangalore. Spread over 70,000 square feet, this new facility will be able to produce around 15000 electric motorcycles in the first year. The facility will be capable to produce up to 1,20,000 units per year.
