2018 Honda PCX 125 Details

Seeing the growing demand for scooters, two-wheeler brands are expanding their scooter line-up to increase sales in the highly competitive market. Brands like Honda, Hero and TVS Motor Company are banking big on scooter sales to maintain their lead in the market. Not just small capacity, brands are now looking at bigger and more powerful scooters for the Indian market. Yamaha and Honda could also launch 150cc scooters in India.

Japanese brand, Yamaha has already announced that it will focus on premium motorcycles and scooters for the Indian market. With R15 and MT15 already on sale, Yamaha is likely to bring the NMax 155 scooter in our market. The company’s portfolio misses out on 125cc scooter. With NMax, Yamaha would want to make strong case in the fast growing scooter segment. The maxi scooter will directly rival the Aprilia and Vespa range of scooters.

Powering the Yamaha NMax 155 is a 155.1cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that also powers the R15 V3.0 and MT-15 in a higher state of tunes. While powering the scooter, this engine produces 14.8bhp of power at 8,000rpm and 14.4Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. This premium scooter is equipped with features like all LED lighting, fully digital instrument console, a massive windscreen and large under-seat storage.

Honda had showcased the PCX 150cc scooter at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. It was speculated that the scooter could be launched in our market, that didn’t happen. The Japanese brand has started working on the next-gen PCX 150 scooter, which will use the 4-valve setup instead of the 2-valve setup in the current model. It is expected that the Japanese brand could launch the PCX inspired 150cc scooter in India. The India-spec scooter will be slightly different from the international spec model.
