The 2018 TVS XL100 Heavy Duty gets i-Touch Start’, an electric starter and a USB charger.

TVS Motor Company has rolled out the new XL100 Heavy Duty with ‘i-Touch Start’ at Rs 36,109 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This makes it around Rs 3,350 more expensive than the entry-level XL100 Comfort variant. The updated model of the moped also gets an electric starter, a USB charger and a few more features. Mechanically, the 2018 TVS XL100 Heavy Duty remains unchanged. The moped continues to use the 99.7 cc single-cylinder, four stroke, air-cooled engine. This motor is good enough for 4bhp and 6.5Nm of torque. With a kerb weight of 86kgs, the vehicle delivers a claimed mileage of 67kmph.

The suspension system of the XL100 Heavy Duty consists of telescopic forks up and dual hydraulic shocks at the front and rear axles respectively. The Chennai-based two-wheeler maker introduced the TVS XL 100 back in 1980. In this fiscal year, the company sold 565,860 units of the moped so far. The vehicle registered 28 per cent growth between April- November 2016-17, and 23 per cent in financial year 17. Read – TVS Apache RR 310 – All Details

Interestingly, the XL100 contributed over 17 per cent in the company’s total sales revenue in FY17. TVS sold 890,367 units of the moped, while the scooters’ sales stood at 826,291 units only. However, it begun to lose traction since the starting of fiscal year 18.
