TVS Motor Company has finally entered into the neo-retro styled motorcycle category with the new TVS Ronin 225. The company claims that the new Ronin motorcycle doesn’t belong to a specific segment; however, it appears more like a mix of Cafe racer and a scrambler. In terms of pricing & specs, the new TVS Ronin 225 rivals the likes of the Yamaha FZ 25 and the Bajaj Dominar 250. The Yamaha FZ 25 is available in 2 variants – Standard and FZS – priced at Rs 1.46 lakh and Rs 1.50 lakh respectively. On the flip side, the new Ronin 225 is offered in 3 variants – SS, DS and TD. The SS and DS variants are priced at Rs 1.49 lakh and Rs 1.56 lakh respectively. Engine Specs
The new Yamaha FZ 25 is powered by a BS6-compliant 249cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC egine that churns out 20.5bhp of power at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 20.1Nm at 6,000rpm. It is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox.
Powering the TVS Ronin 225 is a 225.9cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. This engine is capable of producing 20.1bhp of power at 7,750rpm and a peak torque of 19.93Nm at 3,750rpm. It also gets Assist and Slipper Clutch.
– The FZ 25 comes with telescopic front forks and a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock. It gets 282mm disc at the front and 220mm disc at the rear. The motorcycle also gets dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System).
– The TVS Ronin 225 features Showa-sourced Big-piston 41mm USD (Upside Down) front forks and mono-shock with 7-step adjustable preload at the rear. For braking, it gets 300mm front disc and 240mm rear disc. While the top-spec TD is offered with dual-channel ABS system with Rain and Urban Modes, the SS and DS trims are available with single channel ABS.
