Power for the TVS IQube scooter will come from by a 100cc, 4-stroke petrol engine coupled to an electric motor with a lithium ion batteries pack.

TVS Motor Company is on a roll. While the Apache RR310R was the biggest launch of the last year, the bikemaker introduced the Apache RTR 160 and a few Race Editions this year so far. Now, the rumor is in the air that the company will soon launch the TVS IQube hybrid scooter that will cater a niche segment. Based on the Qube concept that broke cover at the Delhi Auto Expo in 2010, the TVS IQube will be India’s first ever hybrid scooter. Since this hybrid scooter will come under the government’s FAME India (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles in India) scheme, it will avail excise duty benefits.

The Chennai-based two-wheeler maker showcased the Qube hybrid scooter concept at the 2010 Auto Expo. Though, it didn’t reveal the launch timeline of the vehicle. TVS IQube Price In India

India’s first hybrid scooter – TVS iQube – will be a beneficiary of the incentives offered on electric and hybrid vehicles by govt.’s FAME India scheme. However, the existing FAME subsidy is valid till September 30, 2018. In order to avail the advantage, the company might soon launch the product. As far as the pricing is concerned, the new TVS scooter is likely to come with competitive price tag.

At the heart of the TVS IQube hybrid scooter will be a 110cc, 4-stroke petrol engine matched to an electric motor with a lithium ion batteries pack. This hybrid power system with regenerative brakes produces electrical energy routed towards the lithium batteries to recharge them and run the motor. The power will be sourced from the electric motor when it will run below 20kmph. Transmission on offer will be 4-speed gearbox. The scooter also offers multiple driving modes – Hybrid Economy and Hybrid Power – that enable rider to select the apt mode to control the vehicle. In Power mode, this hybrid system delivers highest power output and acceleration, and better performance.  On the other hand, the Economy mode saves energy and enhances engine’s efficiency, while reducing carbon emission. While running on the conventional petrol motor, the scooter uses the rear-wheel drive system and the electric motor makes it front wheel drive vehicle.

TVS IQube Hybrid Scooter Design

The production-ready TVS IQube is likely to retain most of the design elements and body graphics from the Qube concept. The scooter is likely to feature LED display, LED light, pillion footrest, pass light and a single seat. It will also get an analogue speedometer and fuel gauge and electric start system.
