TVS Motors seems quite aggressive with its Indian operation plans. The two-wheeler major has handful of new products in the pipeline that will hit road in coming months. The home-grown two-wheeler manufacturer also aims to expand its popular model lineup including the Apache and the Jupiter series. Now, the buzz is the company is also planning to foray into the electric scooter segment with an all-new product.
The good folks at Autocar have managed to get their hands on a few spy pictures of the new TVS electric scooter. Though, the spied unit is completely camouflaged and spotted during charging in Bengaluru. The new TVS electric scooter will be based on the Jupiter, and share most of its features and components with its donor sibling. Similar to the Jupiter, it will come with a lightly stepped and comfortable seat. For performing braking duties, the scooter will have drum brakes on both the ends. Riding on alloy wheels, the new TVS electric scooter will also get a roomy flat floorboard, flush-fitted turn indicators and bag storage hooks. In pictures, one can see the exposed wires indicating that the battery system will lie centrally beneath the seat. The powertrain positioning might alter the under-seat storage space of the scooter. The new TVS electric scooter is supposed to in its early testing phase, and it is likely to take a one good year to hit roads. Report suggests that it won’t come before mid 2018. However, TVS hasn’t yet revealed its plan for an electric scooter. It will be the first TVS electric scooter in India.
