Toyota’s Vitara Brezza – What To Expect?
Japanese automaker, Toyota is all set to discontinue its diesel engine range from the Indian market. The company is now focusing on launching new cars in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki. After successful launch of the Glanza premium hatchback (based on the Maruti Baleno), Toyota is now readying the re-badged versions of the Vitara Brezza, Ertiga and Ciaz.
Adding to it, the duo is working on an all-new C-segment MPV. To be positioned between the Ertiga and the Innova Crysta, the new C-segment MPV will rival the Mahindra Marazzo.
In this article, we bring you key details about the upcoming Toyota’s version of the Vitara Brezza compact SUV. The new model will be based on the upgraded Brezza, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. Similar to the Vitara Brezza facelift, the Toyota’s version of the compact SUV will be offered with a petrol engine only.
The Toyota Glanza is nothing but the re-badged Baleno with limited changes in the form of revised grille pattern and Toyota logo. It is reported that the Toyota’s version of the sub-4 meter SUV will be significantly different from the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
In terms of styling changes, the Toyota’s version of the Brezza is likely to receive all-new grille, new bumper and new alloys. At the back, the SUV could receive new tailgate, bumper and new tail-lamp setup. However, the overall profile of the SUV will largely remain similar to that of the Maruti’s Brezza. The cabin is also likely to receive some visual changes in the form of new colour combinations for the dashboard and new seat upholstery. The new compact SUV will be produced at the Toyota’s Bidadi plant, which is also rumoured to be used to develop the Vitara Brezza and other Maruti cars.
Toyota’s version of the Vitara Brezza will be powered by the 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with Smart hybrid system. This engine is capable of producing 103bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic.
