Upcoming Toyota Cars in India – Here’s a complete list of all the new cars that the Japanese automaker will launch in 2017 and 2018.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese automaker, is planning to bring-in a bunch of new cars in the country. After the successful launch of the new Innova Crysta (diesel), the carmaker introduced the petrol version of the MPV in August 2016 and new Fortuner in November 2016. Besides this, Toyota India will also introduce the new-generation model of its flagship hybrid sedan– the Prius. The carmaker is also exploring fast growing compact SUV and mid-sized sedan segments. While the Toyota Vios could be the company’s first mid-sized sedan in India, details about the upcoming compact SUV are still under wraps.
Here’s a list of upcoming new Toyota cars in India that the Japanese automaker will roll out in the Indian market in 2016 – 2017.
Toyota, the Japanese automaker will launch the new Toyota Prius hybrid in the Indian car market in early 2017. The vehicle made its India debut at the 2016 Auto Expo. Like the current model, the new model will be imported via the CBU (Completely Built-Up Unit) route.
Equipped with more advanced technology, the next Prius will be more expensive than the Camry hybrid. It could be launched as a flagship hybrid product to showcase Toyota’s innovation in hybrid propulsion. The vehicle is not likely to bring volumes for the Japanese automaker. The new Prius is 60mm longer, 15mm wider than the outgoing model, but the height of the car has been reduced by 20mm. The wheelbase remains the same at 2,700mm. The new Prius will get an all-new exterior styling. Dual headlamps will come as standard. Talking about features, the vehicle will get a 7-inch touchscreen display, enhanced parking support, 4.2-inch color dual MID with customisable screens and Qi compatible wireless smartphone charging.
The new Prius will be powered by Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive, which is combination of 97bhp 1.8L petrol engine and a 71bhp electric motor. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a CVT automatic gearbox. The new model is claimed to return around 40kmpl of mileage.
