Toyota Yaris Sedan To Launch On May 18, 2018 – Report

Toyota hasn’t yet confirmed the launch date of the Yaris sedan.

Toyota is doing final launch preparation for the mid-size sedan – Yaris. While the company hasn’t yet announced the launch date of the vehicle, it is reported to go on sale on May 18, 2018. Bookings for the vehicle have been commenced at dealership level. One can pre-book the car by paying an initial sum of Rs 50,000 at any authorized Toyota dealership.

Once launched, the Toyota Yaris will put up against the Hyundai VernaMaruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City. Previewed at the Auto Expo 2018, the sedan is estimated to be priced around Rs 8.4 lakh to Rs 13.5 lakh (ex-showroom). If launched at this price point, it will undercut one of its arch rivals – the Honda City.

In the Indian market, the Yaris will be made available with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine only. This motor can produce 105bhp at 6,000rpm and 140Nm of torque at 4,200rpm. Transmission options on offer include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed CVT unit.

Feature-wise, the Yaris is quite loaded with advanced comfort and safety features. It also comes with several segment-first features such as seven airbags, tyre monitoring system and 6-way adjustable driver’s seats. Positioned below the Crolloa Altis, the Yaris carries the company’s global design language. Key design elements include LED DRLs integrated in the front bumper, LED parking lights with sharp line design, 15-inch alloy wheels, LED rear lights, sloping roofline and sharp wraparound taillights.
