Toyota Dealers Start Accepting Bookings For Yaris Sedan

Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka will serve as production hub of the Yaris sedan.

The Japanese carmaker is all set to mark its entry in the mid-size sedan segment with the Toyota Yaris that made its public debut at the Auto Expo 2018 in February. While the launch of the sedan will happen by mid April, its bookings have been commenced at dealership level. Select Toyota dealers are taking pre-orders for the vehicle at a token amount of Rs 50,000. Though, deliveries could start in the first few weeks of May, 2018.

Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka will serve as production hub of the Yaris sedan. To be produced with high-level of localization, the vehicle is likely to come at a competitive price. In the C-sedan segment, the Yaris will be put up against the  Hyundai VernaMaruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City.

The new sedan will be available in a single 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that’s good for 108bhp and 140Nm of torque. There will be two transmissions on offer – a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed sequential shift CVT. Read – Toyota Alphard Luxury MPV Is Coming To India

Toyota equips the Yaris with multiple segment-first features including 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, tyre pressure monitoring system and seven airbags. Other features on offer will include a 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system with MirrorLink and Bluetooth connectivity, navigation system, Optitron instrument panel with 4.2 MID, automatic climate control, leather seats, rear view camera, ABS with EBD, VSC, HAC, ISOFIX child restraint system, etc.

Sharing some of its design bits with the Corolla and Camry, the Yaris offers very premium look. The key highlights include a large radiator grille, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 16-inch alloys, sloping roofline and sharp wraparound taillamp assembly. Read – Upcoming Toyota Cars In India
