Toyota Vios sedan spied again; launch likely at 2016 Auto Expo

Toyota Vios Sedan

We reported earlier that Toyota will launch the Vios sedan in the Indian car market. To be positioned between the Etios and the Corolla Altis, the Vios will be the company’s C-segment car to compete against the likes of Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. The company has started testing the sedan in India, and the fresh spyshots of the sedan have hit the web world.

The Toyota Vios sedan has specifically been developed for the Asia Pacific region, which was first introduced in 2002. However, the maker will introduce a new generation car in 2015. The new generation model has been spotted testing in Bangalore. According to Overdrive reader, the interiors of the sedan looked premium and look closer to the Corolla than Etios. The spotted vehicle didn’t have daytime running lamps, but the production spec model is likely to get them. The cabin space and comfort is likely to give a close competition to the likes of City and Ciaz.

In International markets, the Vios sedan is offered with a 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre petrol engines. We expect that the Indian-spec model will get a diesel motor, which is likely to be the same 1.4-litre D-4D unit that is good for 88PS. Both manual and automatic transmission options will be on offer.

The exact launch date of the car is yet to be announced, but we believe that the maker will choose the 2016 Delhi Motor Show as perfect platform to introduce the Vios sedan.
