Toyota Urban Cruiser – How Different It Will Be From Vitara Brezza

Toyota Urban Cruiser Rendered

We have reported earlier that Toyota’s Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza based subcompact SUV will be named ‘Toyota Urban Cruiser’. While its official launch date and details are yet to be confirmed, it’s reported to see a release in the month of July or August. Once launched, it will take head-to-head against the cars like Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Vitara Brezza and the upcoming Kia Sonet.

Visually, the Toyota Urban Cruiser will look slightly different from the Maruti Vitara Brezza. A latest digital rendering gives us a fair idea what might be changed for Toyota’s rebadged Vitara Brezza. The front fascia has been completely revised. The newly-designed headlamps are connected with thick black chrome bar featuring signature ‘Toyota’ badge  in the centre.

The honeycomb mesh grille with black inserts, revised fog lamp assembly and pronounced hood further enhance its new look. The front bumper, however, remains unchanged. In fact, the rendered model has ‘Suzuki’ badging on the alloy wheels and ‘Vitara Brezza’ (mirrored) read on the number plate.

Minimal changes are expected to be made inside the cabin. Toyota’s rebadged Vitara Brezza might get new interior colour theme and new seat upholstery. The new Suzuki SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system is likely to remain intact. It supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. No changes will be made under the hood. The Toyota Urban Cruiser will use the same BS6-compliant 1.5L, 4-cyliner K15B petrol engine and come with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox option. The gasoline unit returns a claimed power of 103bhp against 138Nm of torque. Its mileage figures stand at 17.03kmpl (with manual gearbox) – 18.76kmpl (with automatic transmission).

Prices of the Urban Cruiser are likely to more or less similar to the Maruti Vitara Brezza that costs between Rs 7.5 lakh – Rs 11.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
