Toyota To Soon Launch Ciaz Based Sedan And Ertiga Based MPV

After introducing the Baleno based Glanza and Brezza based Urban Cruiser, Toyota will launch more Maruti cars based products in the Indian market in the near future. The company will soon introduce the re-badged version of the Ciaz sedan. In fact, Toyota’s version of the Ciaz’s front grille with Toyota badge has been leaked online.

Adding to it, the Japanese automaker will also launch the re-badged version of the Ertiga MPV. While the sedan is likely to arrive in the next 1-2 months, the Ertiga based MPV from Toyota could be launched around festive season – before Diwali.

Unlike Baleno and the Brezza, the upcoming Toyota’s version of the Ciaz and the Ertiga will receive significant design changes to distinguish them from the original models. These models will be powered by the same 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid technology. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 104bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.

It is reported that the Toyota’s version of the Ciaz will come as a replacement to the Yaris mid-sized sedan, which has recently been discontinued. It is likely to be positioned above the Maruti Ciaz in terms of pricing. The Ciaz is available in the price bracket of Rs 8.42 lakh – Rs 11.33 lakh, while the Toyota’s sedan could cost around Rs 9 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.

Maruti Ertiga MPV

The re-badged version of the Ertiga MPV is expected to be priced around 8.5 lakh to Rs 12 lakh. The company would aim to offer attractive standard warranty with the new models to attract new buyers.

Toyota is also planning to launch some of its global SUVs including the RAV4 and the C-HR. These models will be brought under the government’s new import rule, which allows automakers to import 2,500 cars without any local homologation process.
