Toyota To Launch 6 New Cars In 2 Years – New SUVs, MPV

Japanese automaker, Toyota is readying a wide range of new models for the Indian market. A new report claims that the company could launch at least 6 new models in the country in the next 2 years. Thanks to the global alliance with Suzuki, Toyota is set to enter different vehicle segments of the Indian market.

– New Toyota D22 mid-sized SUV
– New Toyota MPV – Codenamed 560B
– Rumion MPV – rebadged Ertiga
– A new crossover

Toyota Mid-Sized SUV

The report suggests that the company will launch the new Glanza hatchback and the Urban Cruiser in the first half of 2022. Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the new Baleno and the Vitara Brezza in February and April respectively. These models will come with significantly different interior and will be equipped with high-end comfort, convenience & connectivity features.

The next Toyota model to arrive in our market is a mid-sized SUV, codenamed D22. The new SUV will be jointly developed by Suzuki and Toyota, and will be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi plant. It will be based on Toyota’s DNGA (Daihatsu New Generation Architecture) that underpins the new Avanza and the Raize. A differently designed version of this SUV will also be launched under the Maruti Suzuki nameplate. It is reportedly to be launched around festive season, Diwali.

Toyota Rumion MPV

The company is also working on a new 7-seater C-segment MPV, which will be launched in 2023. The new MPV is also likely to share the platform with the new mid-sized SUV. It will rival the Kia Carens and the Mahindra Marazzo. The new mid-sized SUV and a C-segment MPV will come with Toyota’s hybrid technology.

The Japanese automaker is also planning to launch the Rumion MPV and the Belta mid-sized sedan. While the Rumion is a re-badged Ertiga, the Belta is a re-badged Ciaz. Both models are likely to arrive in the end of 2022 or early 2023. The report also suggest that Toyota is also considering a crossover version of the Maruti Baleno.
