Toyota To Launch 3 New UVs in India In 1 Year: New Fortuner

Japanese automaker, Toyota has joined hands with Suzuki to develop new cars, technologies, electric vehicles and platforms. The first product under the new joint venture is the Toyota Glanza, which was launched in 2019. It is basically the re-badged Maruti Baleno. Toyota is now ready to launch the second model, the Urban Cruiser based on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

Not just the Urban Cruiser, Toyota will also launch the facelifted version of the Fortuner and the Innova facelift. The Urban Cruiser sub-4 meter SUV is expected to be launched during festive season, before Diwali. On the other hand, the Fortuner and Innova facelifts will arrive in early next year.

2021 Toyota Fortuner rear

The Toyota Fortuner facelift has already been launched in select international markets including Indonesia and Australia. The Fortuner 2021 has received significant design changes and upgraded interior along with more powerful diesel engine. In terms of design changes, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift gets a larger mesh-patter grille, new fog lamp enclosure, reshaped front bumper with new silver skid plate, and all-LED lighting system.

Instead of the TRD SPORTIVO, Toyota has introduced a new top-spec ‘Legender’ variant with sportier design elements. It features a new split grille, new bumper, sequential LED turn indicators, dual LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, gloss black finish and dual-tone paint scheme. The Fortuner facelift also gets a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The Thailand-spec Fortuner facelift also gets an updated 2.8L turbo-diesel engine producing 201bhp and 500Nm of torque. This is 27bhp and 50Nm higher than the previous model.

BS6 Toyota Innova Crysta

The company will introduce the Innova Crysta facelift in the first half of 2021. The new model will receive significant design changes in the form of new grille and bumper. The MPV will receive an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Innova facelift is expected to feature the same BSVI compliant 2.4L diesel and 2.7L petrol engines. While the diesel version produces 148bhp and 343Nm of torque, the petrol engine churns out 164bhp with 245Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox with RWD (rear-wheel-drive) will be standard and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission will be optional.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Rendered

Unlike Glanza (re-badged Baleno), the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser will receive significant design changes to keep things fresh in the market. Toyota will change soft body parts and grille design to give it a family look. The Toyota Urban Cruiser will be powered by the single 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that also powers the Brezza. This engine is capable of producing 104bhp and 138Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.
