Toyota Rise Sub-compact SUV to Make Global Debut in November

‘Toyota Rise’ will be the official name of the company’s all-new sub-four-metre SUV that’s scheduled to be unveiled next month (November, 2019). Interestingly, the new subcompact SUV from the Japanese carmaker will also be sold under its sister brand, Daihatsu as ‘Daihatsu Rocky’. Both models will be retailed in several overseas markets. First previewed as Daihatsu DN Trec concept in 2017, the Toyota Rise (Daihatsu Rocky) will be based on the brand’s new DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) modular platform that has been designed especially for emerging markets.

Powering the Toyota Rise (Daihatsu Rocky) will be a 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol engine pushing out power worth 98PS at 6,000rpm and 140Nm of torque between 2,400rpm – 4,000rpm. For performing transmission duties, there will be a CVT gearbox. The subcompact SUV can be had either with the 2WD (two-wheel-drive) or 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system. Dimensionally, the production-ready version is likely to be similar to the concept measures 3.98m in length. Its width and height will stand at 1695mm and 1620mm respectively. Most of the design and styling bits are likely to be carried over from the concept. The Toyota Rise (Daihatsu Rocky) will feature LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, black cladding all around the body and black roof along with a slightly raised ride height.
