Toyota Raize Compact SUV to be Launched in Indonesia
Japanese automaker, Toyota will launch the new Raize sub-4 meter SUV in the Indonesian markets. The company plans to launch 4 models including the Fortuner facelift and the Innova facelift in Indonesia in 2020. The Toyota Raize compact SUV was launched in the Japanese market in November 2020.
The Raize is based on the new DNGA platform, which is basically the low-cost version of the TNGA platform. This platform will be used by Daihatsu and Toyota to produce vehicles for the emerging markets. In terms of proportions, the new Toyota Raize is 3,995mm long, 1,695mm wide and 1,620mm tall, which is similar to the Daihatsu Rocky SUV. The small SUV offers a boot space of 369-litres, which can be further increased by folding the rear seats. In addition, there are storage solutions located throughout the cabin, resulting in a highly convenient interior space.
Powering the new Toyota Raize is a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of producing 98bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox is available as standard, while a CVT automatic unit will be offered as optional. Both front wheel drive and all-wheel-drive system will be on offer. The SUV is equipped with several Smart Assist safety features including the crash avoidance braking function, and erroneous start prevention function with braking control.
The Toyota Raize features a large 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with SmartDeviceLink and Apple CarPlay. The 2WD models of the SUV offer 18.6kmpl of fuel efficiency, while the 4WD variant returns 17.4kmpl.
The Toyota Raize compact SUV is not likely to be launched in our market anytime soon. The company plans to launch re-badged Vitara Brezza in India. However, media reports claim that Toyota could bring the DNGA platform to produce an all-new mid-sized SUV. This mid-sized SUV will be sold under Maruti Suzuki and Toyota brands.
