Toyota Raize Compact SUV Brochure and Details Leaked
Japanese automaker, Toyota will unveil the much-anticipated Raize sub-4 meter SUV in Japan on the 5th of November 2019. The new model is basically the re-badged version of the Daihatsu Rocky, which debuted at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. If reports are to be believed, the new Toyota Raize will be the successor of the previous generation Toyota Rush which was sold until 2016. For people not in the know, the current Rush is bigger in dimensions and offer seats for 7 adults.
Ahead of the global reveal in November 2019, Brochure images of the Toyota Raize have been leaked on the internet. Based on the Toyota’s new flexible DNGA platform, the new Raize is developed to target emerging markets. This platform is basically a low-cost version of the advanced TNGA modular architecture, which underpins the C-HR, Prius and RAV4.
The Toyota Raize and the Daihatsu Rocky are the production versions of the Daihatsu DN D-Trec concept. The SUV looks like a mini RAV4, featuring a large trapezoidal grille with mesh inserts, newly styled fog lamps and LED DRLs, etc. The mini SUV rides on 17-inch chunky alloys. Similar to the Rush and the Fortuner, the Toyota Raize is also expected to receive the TRD package. At the back, the SUV has horizontally stacked wraparound tail-lamps with LED inserts, thick chrome bar on the boot-lid and the floating D-pillar.
Rides on 2,525mm wheelbase, the new Toyota Raize compact SUV measures 3,995mm in length, 1,620mm in width and 1,695mm in height. The dimensions are similar to that of the Daihatsu Rocky. The cabin of the new Raize is also sourced from the Rocky, featuring similary styled dashboard with faux-brushed aluminium finish. Toyota could offer different colour scheme for the interior.
Under the bonnet is a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, 12-valve turbo-petrol engine that produces 98bhp at 6,000rpm and 140.2Nm of torque at 2,400-4,000rpm. Transmission choices include a CVT and a six-speed manual. The front-wheel-drive layout will come as standard, while the top-end model will have a 4WD layout.
According to the Japanese media, the Toyota Raize will come with compact styling and high-quality interior design. The exterior design is based on the new “active”, “fun” and “tough” concepts. The SUV comes with guards to protect the vehicle body from scratches, and it can be used on both streets and outdoors.
