Toyota Likely To Launch Fortuner GR Sport Edition In India

Japanese automaker, Toyota is getting aggressive for the Indian market. The company is working on a wide range of new models along with mid-life updates and new special editions of its existing range. It is expected that the company could soon launch the new Fortuner GR Sport Edition in the Indian market in the next few months.

The Toyota Fortuner GR Sport made its global debut in August last year. The company had also showcased the new sportier edition at Bangkok Motor Show 2022. Already on sale in select markets including Indonesia, the new GR Sport Edition of the Fortuner comes with an updated exterior design as well as features.

The new Fortuner GR Sport edition comes with a new adaptable dual-zone air conditioning system. In terms of styling, the new GR Sport model comes with a dark chromed front grille with LED headlamps, and spoilers for the front and rear bumpers, and LED fog lamps. The 7-seater SUV also has newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels, powered tailgate with kick sensor, new side stickers and new GR grade emblem.

Inside the cabin, the GR Sport Edition comes with black interior scheme and leatherette seats. It features a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, multiple drive modes, electrically adjustable front seats, rear-seat entertainment with illumination, surround-view monitor, electro-chromic IRVM (Internal Rear View Mirror), new wireless charger, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning and others.

Powertrain Option

The Indonesian-spec model is offered with 3 engine options – a 2.7-litre 4-cylinder petrol, a 2.4-litre diesel and a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel. The petrol engine produces 161bhp and 245Nm of torque, while the 2.4L unit produces 148bhp and 400Nm of torque. The 2.8L engine churns out 201bhp and 500Nm of torque. A six-speed automatic gearbox comes as standard. A 4×4 drivetrain is exclusively offered with the 2.8L diesel engine. The India-spec model is likely to come with a more powerful diesel engine option.
